@moe_laboratory The way I remember the difference is that 幸 has more lines than 辛, so 辛い is less happy.

Kanji of "happiness" and "toughness" are quite similar To memorize them, "toughness is on the way to happiness". If you add one stroke to 辛 (toughness), then it becomes 幸 (happiness)
