i saw hadestown on broadway in 2019 and i refuse to listen to that version bc the lyrical changes piss me off so bad but like.......... sick and twisted how all of the flavor got sucked out of the best song in the show like compare broadway to the og

mind you anais removed "ladies and gentlemen" from our lady, changed "everybody slaves by the sweat of his brow" to "their* brow", changed the pronouns of hermes into they/them to make them nonbinary, to make the show more inclusive. now they cast a transphobe. disgusting

i just emailed to the casting department of hadestown about the weirdo, sent them proofs. i don't know if they'll care about it but i've tried and if anyone else wants to email them, it's :info@whitleytheatrical.com

@trans_moritz i just woke up after barely being able to sleep all night because of how angry and disappointed i was and still am, hadestown is my everything and the fact that they’ve been making such terrible casting decisions is ridiculous and this IS that serious i fully agree with you

woke up checked my phone casting Has Not Changed and. maybe i teared up because sorry yes a show i’ve loved for Years and have found. a source of comfort and inspiration and hope as a queer person casting a. massive and quite frankly proud transphobe Is that serious to me

@wolfescrows the first time had me FUMING but the fact that they cast 2 terrible people in the same role in a row???? and they definitely know how mad fans were last time but they did it again anyway??? this is not okay

@kurchips the first time i was like yeah they fucked up but i’m sure they signed a contract like not a lot they can do now but im so so disappointed that they’ve gone and done it again

you would think with the massive popularity hadestown is gonna gain from the PROSHOT which included an amazingly talented trans woman they would not cast someone actively transphobic immediately after.

i am SO disappointed and angry right now, i can’t believe how terrible this casting decision is.
