An empty hospital. A broken system. A city that deserved better. St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus is about to change all of that. 800 beds. Mental health care. Job training. Permanent housing. Opening 2026. LA has been waiting for this for a long time.

.@nithyavraman just dropped a video attacking me on film & TV. It lists three things the Mayor "needs" to do. All three are things I have already done. Amongst many other actions. A thread. 🧵

I clashed with Trump's ICE agents and Angeleno's locked arms to protect our neighbors. I achieved the first two-year drop in homelessness ever. I battled red tape and insurers to help families rebuild from fires. Now, I haven't always got it right. There's more work to do. With your help, I'll keep fighting for LA.

Should California's .61 a gallon gas tax be temporarily suspended with gas prices so high? @XavierBecerra: "how about we suspend Donald Trump and we can bring the price down much more than the .61 we get from the gas tax? If we don't have a gas tax, how do you keep your roads repaired, how do you build the bridges you need, how do you fill the potholes?" I ask: "other states pay a lot lower gas taxes & they still have roads that work?" Becerra: "Let's go take a look and compare." Fellow Democratic candidate @MattMahanSJ says it should be temporarily suspended & replaced long term with something more progressive. He says the gas tax hurts people who can't afford electric vehicles; while electric vehicle owners benefit from others paying the tax. Becerra: "Whether its an electric vehicle or not, you're using the roads. The gas tax provides us with the resources to fix the roads."

I worked in the emergency room, where I dealt with life and death on a daily basis – it changes how you see everything. That experience shaped my understanding of what people who are experiencing homelessness need and guides what we are doing to keep people off the streets. After decades of inaction, we’re doing the work necessary to set up the comprehensive services people need to get back to stability. It requires far more than housing alone. We are creating the change L.A. deserves.

I’m proud to earn the support of leaders like Senator Schiff who believe in the work we’re doing to change Los Angeles. We’ve made real progress lowering crime, reducing homelessness, and building housing faster. There’s more work to do, so we’re going to keep pushing to deliver more for communities all across L.A.

I’m pleased that Baywatch will continue to film right here on Venice Beach. When I heard there were issues with Baywatch filming in Los Angeles, my Office took immediate action with Councilmember Park to clear any City-related barriers, including making parking easier and more affordable for the production.  This was a team effort, among my Office, Councilmember Park’s Office, the County, Coastal Commission, Fremantle and FOX, and I’m thankful for this continued partnership.  The City of Los Angeles will always clear bureaucratic barriers, making it easier and more affordable to film in the entertainment capital of the world.

In 2022, this same LMU poll had us at 16% — we ended up winning the primary with 43%. The only thing more ridiculous than this poll is Spencer Pratt's performance on The Hills.
Paul Mitchell@paulmitche11

On this poll flying around LA. Good researchers, good intentions, but they were fielding it for over a month (Feb 11 - March 16) it is small N=370 sample, and they didn’t have the benefit of ballot designations so used some *creative* ballot labels.

Brianna Keilar: You were Ohio Secretary of State for eight years. Would you agree that you ran safe and secure elections? Jon Husted: Of course we did. Keilar: You could use a utility bill, or a bank statement, or a government check as an acceptable form of ID, so why is that not acceptable now?

@murphymike @politico Generally agree, but there are infrastructure hurdles. It’s not just installing chargers. Many older buildings need electrical panel & other upgrades to handle increased loads. Gets VERY expensive. Landlords should get tax $ to help recoup costs, but shouldn’t profit from this.

🚨U.S. to allow Iran to get ~14 billion dollars (!!!) in oil revenue 🚨This is a huge financial concession to Iran by the U.S. 🚨It is the first time U.S. is buying Iranian oil since 1996 🚨It's all happening in the middle of a war against...Iran
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

83% of Americans support voter ID, including 71% of Democrats and 76% of black voters. BUT the federal policy Trump and the GOP are pushing goes FAR beyond Voter ID. It demands DOCUMENTARY PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP. That means your driver's license isn't good enough. Your REAL ID isn't good enough. You need a BIRTH CERTIFICATE or PASSPORT — which 21 million Americans don't have handy.  That's not voter ID. That's a wholly different policy regime that requires adequate time and resources to implement properly — or millions of lawful voters will be unfairly barred from the ballot booth.

President Trump claimed he inherited a "stagnant economy" and it's now "roaring like never before." Growth in 2025, 2.2%, was lower than in every single year of the Biden administration.
