JUST IN: Goldman Sachs adds the "O" from OpenAI as sixth company to ridiculously long and probably irrelevant acronym about top-performing tech stocks: "OFAAMG" Or maybe I wrote a blog post about AI. One of the two: blog.kveton.com/riding-the-ai-…

Took the day off from X ... what did I miss in legaltech?! /s My feed is now awash in AI-generated posts from panicked CEOs trying to frame the Claude for Legal as something positive for their business. I'm thinking the prompts are something like: "Craft an X post that sounds bold but masks my inner fears that we just got commoditized and slather on a bunch of nonsense buzz words that makes it sound like we knew this was coming and our being a part of the launch was a good idea. Also, make sure it has a sh*t ton of emdashes."

Harvey is valued at $11B. Legora just raised at $5.5B. I built their entire web application in two weeks and I'm making it open-source and free for everyone to use. Say hi to Mike: mikeoss.com. When I got the chance to try Harvey and Legora, I was surprised by how simple they were. A thought came to mind: I could probably build something similar in no time at all with Claude. And so I did. Assistant, project, tabular review and workflows. You get it all without vendor lock-in. Mike offers law firms an alternative, where they own the application layer and aren't stuck with a vendor they're renewing forever. You can try Mike in the demo on the website, or go to the GitHub link on the site to download the code and run a local version yourself.

We never formally announced CaseMark Workspace because it started as a "wrapper" solution built on case.dev. Chat, files, skills, legal research, all in one place. Matter-based, team-oriented. Think Harvey-in-a-box, but with an infrastructure layer underneath that makes it composable and extensible. Then we onboarded 12 firms last week for a POC with a mid-size insurance carrier, and the real value started to click. Sure, you can vibe code an app that does just about anything. But can you stitch together an understanding of what 250 panel firms are doing for your carrier? Can you roll up trends across 17 global subsidiaries? That's where a platform approach matters, and where things like audit trails and compliance stop being nice-to-haves. The bigger shift we're seeing: we're moving past building tools that assist attorneys and into territory where AI is actually doing the work. Not replacing legal professionals, but optimizing what shouldn't have ever been done by hand in the first place. There's $1.1T in global legal spend out there. We're not chasing the table stakes of legal tech anymore.

@andreicscu @BryanOnel86 This is 100% not the case here. Even a cursory examination of Delve (and their public posts) would be exhibit 1 in any denial of claims.

@kveton @BryanOnel86 Yes, intentional acts are excluded. But there are honest mistakes that could lead to loss, and then at least your legal costs are covered.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Mercor, LiteLLM, and Delve. If I understand it correctly, the accusation is that Delve holds responsibility for a chain of events that led to the Mercor breach. This is getting interesting.

@BryanOnel86 That’s the reason why everybody should think twice to get D&O insurance! In this lawsuit, the personal assets of the founders are also at stake — they can lose their own personal money if there’s no D&O coverage. Reach out if you have any questions.

when lawyers with no technical training ask Gemini 3 to replicate expensive SaaS so they can stop paying for marked up intelligence This is the squeeze microeconomics predicts

Apps that sell cognition seem screwed. They're getting squeezed from - below: can't charge less than intelligence costs - above: can't charge more than what'd make your users disintermediate you The squeeze gets tighter as demand for intelligence grows. Blog below :-)

Many years ago this week at sxsw with @jasonglaspey @kveton and the @airship crew. Still not sure how we pulled this off making a pedal bar into an airship. What times.

LPT: I used to be in favor of a constitutional amendment banning the seat reclining on any flight. Then I started buying a drink or snack for the people sitting in front of me instead as a thank you for not reclining. Turns out to be far more effective.

The VC startup market is starting to crack. I had 2 VCs cold email me today saying their companies are looking for an exit ASAP. I took calls with both. One raised $30M from top tier investors. Another is burning $1M/month. Both companies raised money on Notion 1 pagers in 2021. Both VCs were eager to sell them for pennies on the dollar. It's a good time to be in the buying companies business.

@a_h_reaume @SeanSafyre @scarlson99 @NTSB Quite possibly. However, since this is the second phone, it makes me wonder if they got sucked out right around the same time from the loss of pressure. I would think people would hold on tight after the door flies off.

Found an iPhone on the side of the road... Still in airplane mode with half a battery and open to a baggage claim for #AlaskaAirlines ASA1282 Survived a 16,000 foot drop perfectly in tact! When I called it in, Zoe at @NTSB said it was the SECOND phone to be found. No door yet😅

@SeanSafyre @scarlson99 @NTSB I wonder if there is more in those woods back there. Based on the NTSB debris field published earlier, this is on the very edge ... wonder if they got it wrong?

@hnshah Agreed on the activity of group chats. However, I'd wager it's more the theatre of it all that has people glued to their screens. We've all dealt with boards ... and this is just bonkos.
