@RealDianeYap My Mom was rough. East Texas sharecropper with 7 sisters and an abusive Dad. Picking cotton and then watching Mom get beat when you come home. She also lived in Japan for a few years before we were born. I hated my childhood but there was some magic for sure.

My mom taught me this lesson when I was maybe seven. I was going on about something I found interesting and after a few minutes she cut in: "Did you notice how I haven't been responding at all?" "Yeah?" "That means I don't care. I don't care about this topic. I'm bored. I don't want to hear about this. When you talk to people, pay attention to whether or not they're responding to you. If they barely have anything to say, stop talking about whatever you're talking about." It was a good lesson. One that many people need but never got. And it shows.

I just sparked a debate in the UK for saying £50k is an insane amount of money. Which it is. Average salaries in this country are like £38k after tax and NI. That's like £2500 roughly. I don't know anyone on over £40k. But £50k a month after tax and NI. Still seems a lot. That's £3200 odd! I'm only on just over £2k!
