Another regional theatre goes dark permanently. The post-covid world has revealed a lot of cracks in professional #theatre models in the US. Something needs to change. The way we produce theatre must change, esp. for local theatres like Triad Stage

Smh: Of the 20 most-produced high school plays, only one is by a woman (D.W. Gregory’s Radium Girls). Musicals fare a little better, with Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Nell Benjamin, Tina Fey, Tina Landau, Lynn Ahrens, Jeanine Tesori, and ABBA on the list. schooltheatre.org/2023-play-surv…

@ClearShakes Right!? That’s the joy of being a medieval drama scholar. So many plays are anonymous so I can just ascribe an author’s name.
Everyman? That was written my Johan Boringnature. My evidence? You can’t prove that it wasn’t written by him. Boom!

@Sthrndirecturg Yes. Which is why teaching a variety of techniques to actors is so important. All roughly aim for an affectual response much like you describe, but differ in the “paths” an actor might take to get there. So, an actor learns many to better find their most effective approach
