Congratulations to Polk State Head Baseball Coach Al Corbeil!
With the win in the first game of the doubleheader, Corbeil now has 500 wins for his Polk State career. The program’s all-time wins leader, Corbeil is the first Polk State coach in any sport to reach that milestone.

LEGENDS OF POLK’S PAST: Dakota Harris, SS (Baseball)
A two-year standout for Polk State Baseball, Dakota Harris left the program as one of the most accomplished defensive players in program history. Harris was named first-team All-Suncoast Conference in each of his two seasons with the Eagles while helping Polk State reach the FCSAA Tournament in consecutive years.
After batting .289 with two home runs and team-leading totals of 48 RBIs and five triples as a freshman, Harris had an even better sophomore season, batting .347 with five home runs and 36 RBIs. Harris would go on to win Suncoast, FCSAA, and NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Year. Harris also became the first Polk State player in a decade to win a Rawlings Gold Glove.
Harris would continue his collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma where he was named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, which annually goes to the nation’s top shortstop. Following his junior season of 2022, Harris was selected in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.

LEGENDS OF POLK’S PAST: Nick Collins, 1B/DH (Baseball)
Virtually unrecruited out of Spring Hill, Fla., Nick Collins spent his first year out of high school working in landscaping. Discovered by Head Coach Al Corbeil at a showcase, Collins would go on to become a two-time first-team All-Suncoast and All-FCSAA performer for Polk State. Collins helped the Eagles reach the FCSAA Tournament in 2021 and 2022.
After struggling as a true freshman in 2020, Collins erupted as a redshirt freshman during the 2021 season, hitting .323 with team-bests of nine home runs and 59 RBIs. Nicknamed “Nicky Lotz” for his raw power and ability to hit the ball into parking lots, Collins put together another solid year as a sophomore, hitting .317 with six home runs. Collins led the Eagles with 22 doubles and 50 RBIs.
Collins has since joined fellow All-FCSAA performer and former Polk State teammate Jack Duffy at the University of Houston. As a junior in 2023, Collins helped the Cougars to a 36-23 record.
