Nobody "peeled" anything. An industrial coating has to fully cure before it goes back underwater, and this one was rushed into a flooded pool to hit a deadline. Submerge a film before it bonds to the substrate and water works underneath until it delaminates and lifts on its own. That isn't sabotage, it's chemistry. They're now detaining people for touching material the job already failed to hold. Science.

You confidently claimed no one had been arrested for vandalism. Clearly false. Multiple outlets reported it immediately. David Hearn was arrested for peeling paint—which is, you can say it with me, vandalism.
You presented your own ignorance of basic federal contracting as slam-dunk evidence of corruption—so forcefully and incorrectly that it’s actually embarrassing. You have zero evidence of any wrongdoing. Just a vendor you don’t like and psychic-level mind-reading about motives.

Spare me your selective sanctimony. Obama spent over $34 million on the reflecting pool and it had the same algae issues right after reopening. Trump got it done for $14 million ahead of America’s 250th anniversary—not his birthday. The UFC event was two miles away on the White House lawn. This was always about the country’s Semiquincentennial.

I don’t think “we need to hurry up and paint this thing so I can show it off during my big special birthday celebration” would be a legitimate reason in any other administration to award a contract to a firm that has no experience with the work they were bidding. Like I said, no due diligence. Just corruption. And more wasted money

You clearly didn’t read the article of the arrest. David Stearn was arrested for reaching into the pool and peeling paint. The paint is peeling throughout the pool. Also, the Interior Department had to come up with a reason and supply documentation to justify the no-bid contract. You’d think that wouldn’t be a requirement if no-bid contracts are just part of doing business like you suggest. Then they gave it to the pool guy. Clearly they didn’t do their due diligence and this is the result. Like the original tweet said, it’s a great microcosm of Trump’s corruption marred presidency

Your claim of corruption is pathetically weak. No bid contracts are awarded all the time, under every administration, esp. in jobs that need to be rushed. This is a true nothing burger.
