I was once in Neil Warnock’s office at QPR as he was close to signing me. It was the first time I had ever met him…
He told me that he was forever getting prank phone calls off random numbers. He would save the numbers as Dickhead1, Dickhead2, Dickehead3…etc so when he got called up at 3am he could answer the phone by saying “Hello Dickhead”
I did wonder what he saved my number as in his phone as I didn’t sign for him!
He’s the person every opposition team loves to hate but 99% of players that I know that played for him, absolutely loved him!

No one did feuds like Neil Warnock. He branded one enemy a “deranged lunatic” and told a big-nosed manager: “you can fook off Pinocchio, get back in your fookin’ cupboard”. And his bitter rivalry with Arsene Wenger was the stuff of legend… Back in 2003, Arsenal triumphed over Warnock’s Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final thanks to a controversial goal. Two years later he sensed a chance for revenge when they faced Arsenal in the FA Cup again. “By all means enjoy it, but enjoy it by being fookin’ disciplined”, he told his players before the game. They drew 1-1 and Warnock ordered the squad to celebrate: “Get pissed, take your missus out - shag her on car seat”. Sadly they lost the replay on penalties, but Neil had the last laugh. In 2006, newly promoted Sheffield United went 1-0 up over Arsenal in the league. Despite losing their goalkeeper to injury and playing centre-back Phil Jagielka in goal for half the game, the Blades held on to win. Warnock had finally triumphed over Wenger.
