Teaching a final year literacy unit based on the science of reading is blowing my student's minds after three years of balanced literacy, and bringing me joy in teaching I haven't felt since first starting to teach in primary schools 20 years ago. Such a great feeling.

@PamelaSnow2 @RurbsOz @HeinemannPub An argument I have heard when trying to say there is no evidence for using levelled reading is "but every school in the ACT has PM Benchmarks"

Some rambling thoughts about the campaign against embedding an evidence-based into reading instruction. We know that synthetic systematic phonics is effective for up to 95 per cent of children, so there really is no rationale for withholding it as a frontline strategy. 1/2
