@kymdreyer

I have no difficulty holding both logic and feeling at the same time and that does not diminish my powers- it expands them.

@LolaVMorenoFlo1 I think the ease of access to information through technology is the main factor. It’s almost impossible now to avoid news when you open your phone/ computer. Also- social media now allows everyone to be a journalist and post which makes more information available.

@CamrynSmithUT Hmm as the comments have already mentioned, it can be especially rude in any 1-1 conversation. But an exact example would be a date or interview

@kait_marcatante I really don’t share news on social media as I am always scared it will be wrong or start controversy lol. But when I do- I make sure many other sources verify it.

@harriso87642607 I agree with @Guid0Peluff0. We have an obligation to at least try to verify the information we are consuming, so the minimum is to simply cross check with another trusted media source. Being conscious of where you obtain your information is vital to avoid misinformation.

@BlandUyless HEB brand candles are immaculate if you like the smell of fresh baked sweets. Cinnamon roll is elite, so is 1905 vanilla. They also have a two step brownie and glazed donut smell

Regardless of your favorite, which social media do you believe has the most reliable and factual news, and which has the least? Do you think people should use social media for news at all, or purely entertainment? #J355

@kennedyjtaylor Although there was a lot of horse race coverage this election, I do think it was better than 2020. There were some important policies at stake in Texas and I feel the majority of people acknowledged that when voting rather than merely voting for their political party.

#newsmediaandpolitics Do you think the continued horse race coverage in the 2022 election took us even further away from a healthy goal of democracy? Do you think it was better this election than the 2020 election?

@autumnwatt15 As @chantelb_22 said, it frames it in an easier way that seems more straightforward and game-like. It also pushes affective polarization and people look at it as 'is my party winning or losing?' which frames it as Democrats vs. Republicans instead of being issue focused.

@autumnwatt15 Crowdsourcing benefits both the media and citizens as it gives the news outlets an understanding of what issues to cover (thus increasing views and trust) and gives citizens the information they care about.

@Rendonreinarz I feel like I do as I follow accounts that share my mindset and then in turn surround my feed and what I am consuming online with things that further support my own views purposefully.

@morgan_severson The conspiracy I can think of is mass voting fraud as people were voting as deceased individuals. I believe these conspiracy theories are dangerous as they sow confusion and make people trust democracy even less As we know from past class, the trust is already low and dropping.

We learned about Pro-Democracy coverage and how it has an emphasis on truth and accuracy over being fair and balanced. But as journalists, we have been told to always present each side. So which coverage do you think is more beneficial to the reader/citizen? #newsmediaandpolitics

Last class, we discussed stats on Trust in the media: police have 53% and according to PEW 19% of Americans trust the government 'most of the time'. Why do you think military trust is so much higher at 69%? #newsmediaandpolitics

@eloncomm @TKennG @AEJMC This quote reminds me of one of the progress goals of Gen Z in using the news listed by a Flamingo article- Learning. Not only does news inform us, but it also allows us to stay ahead of the curve or simply be in the loop on the conversation. #newsmediaandpolitics

@katie_borchetta In general, Biden's press secretaries were more open and frequent with communicating with the media and public than Trump's. They used more formal com. while Trump relied on social media. Jen Psaki help more press briefs in her 15 months than all of Trump's secretaries combined.

@UT_Bri_deLatour I believe that it’s up to the social media platform to decide if the public figure is violating their community guidelines. Nothing in the constitution prohibits private companies from deplatforming due to enforcing their guidelines.

Trump was often accused of exploiting social media to spread disinformation and was banned after Jan. 6. Should social media sites remove potentially harmful content from public figures, or is this a breach of the First Amendment and the public's interest?#newsmediaandpolitics
