PSA Pauses 4 Submission Tiers Amid Massive Card Backlog PSA has announced that it will be temporarily pausing four of its most popular submission tiers after reaching a reported backlog of nearly 10 million cards. The affected tiers include Value Bulk, Value, Value Plus and Value Max — services commonly used by collectors, local card shops and submission groups around the world. While this may appear to be a grading industry issue, it highlights something much bigger happening across the hobby. Over the past few years, demand for collectibles has continued to grow across Pokémon, One Piece, sports cards and other trading card games. More people are collecting, trading, grading and investing in cards than ever before. Even with significant expansion of grading capacity, the industry is struggling to keep up. The result is a simple reminder: The hobby is no longer a niche community. It is becoming a global market. As collecting continues to grow, the ecosystem will require more than grading services alone. Collectors increasingly need trusted marketplaces, authentication solutions, community events, liquidity, logistics and reliable market data to support the next phase of growth. For Southeast Asia, this is particularly interesting. The region has one of the fastest-growing collector communities in the world, yet much of the infrastructure remains fragmented across Facebook groups, messaging apps and local communities. The future of the hobby will not be built by grading companies alone. It will be built by the platforms, communities and collectors who continue to make trading cards accessible, trusted and enjoyable for everyone. What do you think?
