a few weeks ago I mistakenly received a copy of the @Kyomi Ryo intended for another reviewer. I've since spent the past few weeks playing with the pad, and I don't think I'll be swapping off it anytime soon.

My Impressions:
Right out of the box, the first thing that hits you about the Ryo is just how thin it is. Lately, I've been a bit worried about glass pad companies chasing the "ultra-thin" trend too hard, putting the structural integrity of the whole pad in question when it inevitably flexes or gets mishandled. But with the Ryo, I was pleasantly surprised. I had minimal flexing and the rigidity was present. It feels solid and sits so low that it honestly just feels like part of your desk space, lying perfectly flat right under your forearm. I can say 2.2mm may be the "ultra-thin" sweet spot if you ask me! The edge work was what you would expect with the current lineup of glass pads as it follows a much wider polished edge. No issues with my forearm or fatigue after prolonged sessions there. The base offers a silicone backing that has a grid of squares that fortunately allowed for no sliding on my desk. To anyone wondering, the grid squares do NOT have the same concavity like Wallhack's VA-005 base has. The UV print is clear and sharp! What an art piece to slap on your desk and complete a setup.
Surface:
Ryo is 100% a speed lover's paradise! It is hands down the fastest coated glass surface I have ever experienced. To the touch, it feels rough and dry, using a high-density texture that offers a ton of tactile feedback under your skates. I personally lean towards wanting texture on my pads, and the Ryo gives you plenty and then some. This pad completely upends the idea that a glass surface has to feel like an frictionless ice rink to be fast.
In-game, Kyomi managed to pull off dense texture with the applied exo coating to give a constant glide under any sense of pressures. When it’s time to stop, applying a bit of downward pressure lets the skates engage deeper with the texture, delivering a rapid, predictable, and incredibly fluid halt. Unlike pads like The Phantom, which can suffer from a jarring, sudden drop in friction when you try to stop, the Ryo maintains a smooth transition. You can stop on a dime and instantly go back to smooth tracking. The glide across this pad is just a pure joy, the very low dynamic friction and rich texture somehow just gave me such a constant sense of control at it's high speeds. Sounds contradicting but there is no other way to explain it!
Yet, despite how distinct and raw this texture feels to the touch, it doesn't drag against your skin or catch on clothing, allowing for totally comfortable arm tracking while actively repelling dust and skin oils. I personally still prefer using a sleeve at the end of the day, but the bare-skin tracking is surprisingly smooth here.
Small Note:
Not Beginner-Friendly (This is a high-speed formula. If you lack independent mouse control or are coming straight from a muddy cloth/glass pad, the surface may be jarring to some)
Conclusion:
Ultimately, I give this pad very heavy praise. It is an extreme-speed category glass pad that won’t be for everyone but will satisfy all the speed enthusiasts. It is a remarkably tactile, beautifully built and structurally solid pad for it's thinness. If you main tracking heavy games, then this is a phenomenal recommendation. For my setup, throwing Westlab Oranges onto the WLmouse Beast X Mini was pure alchemy! Easily a main-worthy surface.
The Ryo is a glimpse of a product that is starting to put all my favorite attributes of other pads into one. The guys at Kyomi are really nice, and I didn't know what to expect with a brand new name on the scene—but if this is their very first product, it is a seriously impressive debut. They have set the bar high right out of the gate, and I am incredibly excited to see what else they have in store for the community. Eager to see the new drop next month!
Thanks for stopping by!🫶
The V6 in Blue sitting on the Kyomi Ryo and it just works. Clean shape, clean colorway, clean glide. Stock skates on a fast glass pad and it moves exactly how you want it to. No swaps needed.

Three days in and I'm officially hooked! 🐲⚔️
Hands-down the most impressive glasspad I've ever used. The heavy texture and extreme glide is unreal — giving the tactile feedback I personally look for. More soon!
