@Olivianuzzi yeah pretty clear he's more of a Harry Potter fan than a Tolkien reader

As it turns out, a lot of nerds follow politics and they have informed me that Gandalf does not have a wand.
Olivia Nuzzi@Olivianuzzi
Madison Cawthorn compares himself to “a Harry Potter or a Gandalf.” He says there’s “no limitations” on your power as a member of congress — “aside from what the Supreme Court will allow you to do.” nymag.com/intelligencer/…

@McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian Thank you Denise for sharing this. My first and primary request was to hear your thoughts on the film as a whole. I appreciate you sharing them. I trust you’ll let me know if you’re interested in hearing mine.

@sfpelosi @netflix Would you be open to an offline conversation? I tried with @McAllisterDen but she just called me names and suggested my daughters deserved a better father. DM me if we - including my daughters - could engage in civil discourse. Thanks for thinking about it.

Hi @netflix, from a customer and former ADA in SFDA’a Child Abuse-Sexual Assault Unit: “Cuties” hypersexualizes girls my daughter’s age no doubt to the delight of pedophiles like the ones I prosecuted. Cancel this, apologize, work with experts to heal your harm. #CancelNetflix

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian That scene when Amy learns that her father has chosen another wife? IKR?! Heartbreaking?
Or when that boy smacks her on the butt and she jams the pen into his hand?
I wonder what might have been going through her brain.
Since, you know...we all care about these girls so much.
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian What was it like for you when Amy dispassionately watched her mother collapse on the kitchen floor?
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian How did you feel about the scene where Yasmine gets kicked out of the group in a truly sad and traumatic way?
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian How did you feel about the scene where Amy's mother decided to lay down her rigid religious thinking and protect her daughter from her aunt?
English

@kzbrittle @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian And I'm not hot bothered by any scene in this film. I'm disturbed by what I've seen. The scenes are more than just 90 seconds, the collection of clips running all over the internet are longer than that. You're seriously naive about human perversions. Conversation muted.
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian How did you feel about the scene where the adult male security guard at the laser tag place assaulted one of the girls?
English

@PhilipFogg71 @kzbrittle @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen Denise literally wrote that article lol. 2200 words defending Roy Moore and arguing that even if he is morally bankrupt and a perv you should vote for him anyway.
Honestly idgaf about Cuties. I give a big fuck about people like Denise engaging in performative moralism for clout.
English

@kzbrittle @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian I'm calling bullshit, too. You have no idea what you're talking about. I've acted onstage professionally and trained in the UK. I know a little more about performance art than you.
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian Again, and clearly: You. Have. Not Watched. The. Film.
English

@BlairDMckee @kzbrittle @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian There's no thoughtful dialogue to be had here. Little girls in the film cavorted and writhed on command like slaves in a harem for a mass audience that consists of perverts. The film's "story" is just a cover so cinema snobs can enjoy the perversion without the guilt.
English

@McAllisterDen First: No demand. Only invitation, which you turned into name-calling like the kind of good Christian woman my daughters should strive to emulate.
Second: You. Have. Not. Watched. The. Film.
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian But whatever...do your thing. I remain interested in Denise's consideration of the other themes in the film like religious conservatism, bullying, ethnic diversity, social judgment, patriarchy. I'm on pins and needles...
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian Moreover: You'd have to actually generate empathy for the characters you're so desperate not to exploit. You'd have to actually consider what it meant for professional actors to portray deeply wounded little girls trying to make sense of their own sexuality.
English

@PhilipFogg71 @BlairDMckee @McAllisterDen @JakeMcMillian You'd have to consider the film on it's own merits rather than the talking points being spoon-fed to you by a cut and paste robot that isn't actually interested human dialogue as much as preachy condescension.
English

@JakeMcMillian @McAllisterDen Yeah. My bad. I guess I just believe the best about people.
English

@kzbrittle @McAllisterDen Also unclear what makes you think Denise is particularly thoughtful person. See, e.g., the article re: Roy Moore above.
English

@McAllisterDen Ok. I'm done here. Again...happy to read and consider your thoughts on the film as a whole whenever you actually watch the whole movie. For now, I'm gonna go back to my cave and see if I can somehow, with your encouragement, become the father my daughters are worthy of.
