@PravatKafley @CosmicDrift96 Thanks, Prabhat. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t play the woman card, raised like a boy, but still winning at life 😏

@CosmicDrift96 @laarne I know her & respect her. But we have some political differences 😊😊. There’s no doubt she wants the best for everyone 🙏

@PravatKafley Ah, got it. Disagreeing with you now equals “not understanding.” Honestly, shutting a woman down as ignorant while lecturing about identity politics is quite the contradiction.

You haven’t understood identity politics yet - once you go that route everything starts to revolve around it. What do you think this is if not a backlash from putting identity front & center of everything? You’re backlashing against a backlash. You can’t view the world through the lens of identity and get mad when the aesthetics starts to overwhelm you.

@PravatKafley Acknowledging identity is fine, centering everything around it is the concern. And calling it “dog-whistling” just shuts down discussion instead of addressing the point.

@laarne What makes you think they’re being “consumed” by it? They may just be acknowledging their identity. I wouldn’t say you ‘champion’ identity politics, but you certainly resort to dog-whistles.

@PravatKafley Funny how that works, right? The moment you question tribal politics, suddenly you’re accused of championing it. There’s a difference between acknowledging identity and being consumed by it.

@laarne But I thought you were a big advocate of tribe, identity, faith-based politics? The thing about tribal politics is eventually everyone becomes tribal 😊😊

Prithvi Narayan Shah must be smiling centuries later to see चार जात छत्तीस वर्ण has evolved into a well-directed show. Inclusion achieved, optics perfected, substance… pending.

@GuyAirline @ShahBalen They might as well invite Sadhguru, Sri Ravi Shankar & Ramdev at this point. I don’t have an issue with leaders expressing their personal religious beliefs during an oath ceremony, I just hope it stops there & that Hindutva doesn’t spill over into the country’s policies & laws.

@GuyAirline In a small city like Kathmandu, driving a Tesla while representing people who are struggling to make ends meet doesn’t send the best message, no matter the intent. There’s a range of modest cars between a Maruti 800 and a Tesla M 3 that would feel more relatable and appropriate.

@laarne You might be a little out of date @laarne . Walk or drive around Kathmandu streets & you’ll find an uncountable number of cars flashier & 3/4 times more expensive than that Tesla Model 3. Surely you don’t expect her to drive a Maruti 800 for ‘optics’?

The kind of cars political leaders drive may not matter if they were already wealthy. But when you represent people in a poor country, many of whom don’t even own a small home, you have to be mindful of the message it sends. Optics matter. A little humility goes a long way.
