#BYUSN COUGS need an offense that will generate some better shoots. even when the bigs got the ball inposition, they could not score. good luck figuring at a scheme that will work with with group.

Help me figure out a question that has had me scratching my head for years, and that is really occupying my thoughts lately. It has to do with the name of the priesthood. Since I was called as the Elders Quorum President of a new ward recently, it has been made clear to me that I need to emphasize to my quorum the fact that we are priests after the order of the Son of God, and are commissioned to teach people to look to God’s Son for redemption, to exercise faith in Him and his Atonement, to repent and be baptized in His name. These beautiful truths are taught in Alma 13 and also in D&C 107. But in Section 107, there’s an added wrinkle that I just don’t understand. There, we are told that “out of respect or reverence to the name of the Supreme Being, to avoid the too frequent repetition of his name, they, the church, in ancient days, called that priesthood after Melchizedek, or the Melchizedek Priesthood.” We have followed this general practice in our day. I don’t get it. I feel a lot like Paul when he was with the Corinthians. This calling has me determined to preach nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. (1 Cor. 2:2). One common theme across scripture is that there is no other name whereby we can be saved than Jesus Christ. I feel the truth of that concept, powerfully, deep in my soul. Melchizedek was an amazing High Priest, but his name does not save. I hate gratuitous swearing in the name of the Savior, but that isn’t what we’re talking about here. How do we square the hesitancy to call the priesthood by its real name with the command to Adam that “thou shalt do all that thou doest in the name of the Son, and thou shalt repent and call upon God in the name of the Son forevermore.”? We pray in His name all the time. We’re commanded to do so. These prayers don’t convey a lack of respect or reverence, but the exact opposite. What is it about acknowledging the real name of the priesthood that is problematic? What is the line that I should not cross when teaching my quorum what it means to hold the “Holy Priesthood after the Order of the Son of God?”

@Latterdaytruth removing lists of do's / don'ts...... instead teaching to choose your signs to God carefully.

Explain to me why this happens.. 1. For the Strength of the Youth pamphlet recommends not having Tattoos 2. Specific recommendation is taken away in favor of a general statement that we should take care of our bodies and treat them like temples 3. Everyone says the Church is okay with tattoos and goes and gets them because they are now “allowed” This mindest of feeling the need to do the absolute most allowed while still being obedient to me misses the mark in several ways. But maybe I go wrong?

Hot Take: Sacrament meeting is not the time to teach the congregation new songs. It’s painful, when saints stumble on the notes and words because nobody knows the song. Singing in sacrament should be a time for worship and I miss singing songs that most people know and sing with fervor.

The energy of this BYU team tonight is night and day from what we saw at Oklahoma State.. The hustle, attention to detail is off the charts!! It’s going to take some role players hitting big shots for us to win. But the competitive energy is insanely high. What we wanted to see.

shooting is confidence and the Cougs have none, except for AJ. we have to have more people start hitting shots. this is what D1 players need to do.

@jaromjordan lost this game with no "inside" scoring or rebounding. plenty of holes in this team. Cougs have some good players but they aren't a good team

@Average_Homeboy not gonna lie, I'm tired of every player waiting for somebody else to play hard, make baskets, make steals, closely guard their man without fouling. and trying to win the game playing hero ball or watching others play hero; there has to be a team that can play competitively
