With a mixture of thoughts & emotions for the "typical" @D28Northbrook teenager during "typical" times, @JasonReynolds83 writing & performance means so much more during this extraordinary time w/ extraordinary stress & extraordinary opportunity.

In addition to captivating ⁦@D28Northbrook⁩ students w/ relevant learning experiences during in-person schooling, each teacher’s day looks like this in between each class period.

My @D28Northbrook 8th graders are analyzing MLK's metaphor use in his famous #ihaveadream speech. I claim that the beginning (before the most famous words) is stronger & more relevant in 2020.

Caring @NBJH_D28 Staff Wants to Help You! youtu.be/35731yey95E via @YouTube It’s about the physical safety, for sure. But it is also about students’ being well socially, emotionally, & mentally. Can’t learn well in person or remotely without balance.

My advice for anyone who has not opened schools yet based on what I learned from our opening day.

I usually give pause before telling teens/students to "not do something," but this time, being with them - in person - is too valuable for not being on the right side of these issues.
