Dr Lola Oni’s blog for #BHM2024 on Sickle Cell Disease. rcn.org.uk/news-and-event… Dr @LolaOni3 was my lecturer at @KingsNursing over 30yrs ago and was crucial to my development as a nurse leader. A passionate nursing leader who spent her career ensuring patients living with #SickleCellDisease (often a marginalised group of patients) have improved healthcare outcomes. Dr Oni was why I started my career in haematology at @kingshealth and am passionate about health equity and social justice. After the damning #CarrReview of the culture of @theRCN that was published in 2022, Dr Lola Oni and @cisanim were the 2 nurse leaders who supported me with putting forward the #EGM proposal that led to a Vote of No Confidence in the previous #RCNCouncil. And that is why I am supporting Dr Lola Oni for #RCNCouncil member for London. Dr Lola Oni will be the voice for every #RCNLondon nurse is heard at the table, because #EveryLondonNurseMatters. #VoteDrLolaOniforLondon

Got my email from the home office 🤭🤭 I’m finally a PERMANENT RESIDENT IN THE UK 🇬🇧 5 years ago, July 2019, I moved to the United Kingdom as a Registered Nurse! 🇳🇬… fully sponsored by the NHS 🥹! FULLY! Flights! Exams, accommodation (3months) all paid for!! One of the best decisions I made for me, & for my family! I got promoted from Band 3 to Band 7 within the space of this 5years… not knowing anyone! No connection, no long legs 😂, just GOD!!! ___________ In this 5years, I met the love of my life, I got married, I had a baby!! Been able to do amazing things for my family!!! 🥹🥹🥹 Feels AMAZING!!!!! It’s been such a long ride!!!!!! My son can finally become a CITIZEN!!!!! I’m super duper excited!!!! & forever grateful to GOD & to the UK 🇬🇧 Cheers to more success!!! 🥂!!!
