@singhabhinav Nigeria isn't chasing crypto hype — we're surviving naira volatility with stablecoins as our real savings account. But holding USDT/USDC without easy spending for bills, merchants or suppliers? That's the painful gap.

Nigeria is ranked #1 in global USDT and USDC ownership. Not the US. Not the UK. Not Singapore. Nigeria. 59% of Nigerian crypto users hold USDT. 48% hold USDC. More than any other country surveyed. India is third. Brazil close behind. The reason is obvious once you see it: in countries where local currency loses 20–40% of value annually, stablecoins aren't a crypto product. They're a savings account. A dollar-denominated store of value that doesn't require a US bank account. Here's what the data doesn't show: most of those stablecoin holders can't use their USDT to buy anything. No merchant acceptance. No subscription billing. No automatic payment. No way to pay a supplier. They hold the dollars. They can't spend the dollars. They convert back to fiat every time they need to transact. The gap between stablecoin adoption and stablecoin utility is most visible not in San Francisco or Singapore. It's in Lagos, Jakarta, São Paulo. $308B in circulation. The people who need stablecoin commerce most have the fewest tools to access it. That's not a distribution problem. That's an infrastructure problem. The rails exist everywhere. The billing layer doesn't exist anywhere. That's who we're building for.

@Cointelegraph The whole point of the De in DeFi is that you can't target humans in the first place. Solana Inc. is no better than Celsius, trying to dress up CeFi as DeFi.

5/ HYÈRES, The Côte d'Azur That Time Forgot This is France's oldest seaside resort. Before Nice. Before Cannes. Before Saint-Tropez. Queen Victoria wintered here. Robert Louis Stevenson recovered here. Tolstoy wrote here. Then the railway went to Nice instead. Everyone followed. And Hyères was left behind, with its medieval old town, its palm-lined boulevards, its private islands, and its 300 days of sunshine. Their loss. My French friend put it best: "Hyères is the Côte d'Azur for people who actually live on the Côte d'Azur." Not for tourists. Not for summer people. For year-round residents who know the difference. Population: 58,000. A REAL Riviera city. €4,820/sqm average. Compare that to Nice (€5,500+) or Saint-Tropez (€12,000+).

I'm Italian. After my thread on Italy's hidden cities blew up, a close French friend called me. "You did Italy. Now do France. But don't embarrass yourself, let me 'elp." We spent a weekend going back and forth. He'd suggest a city, I'd research it. I'd push back, he'd prove me wrong. By Sunday night, we had a list. 7 hidden cities in France that most people, including most French, will never think to visit, let alone move to. No crowds. No tourist markup. Insane quality of life. 🧵

reasons why you shouldn't move to zug: 1. dating sucks 2. there are exactly 3 nightclubs, people who go there are either 18 or 50, nothing in between 3. eating out costs the same as eating out in the most expensive ski resorts like zermatt 4. very limited food delivery options, mcdonald's is at the top 5. you can't do laundry on sundays 6. no noise after 10pm 7. there's a church within 500m, no matter where you live 8. the churches ring the bell every hour 9. you can't skii on the zugerberg 10. the city name is incredibly confusing, specially if you speak to germans

sad day for those who know the place and its role in crypto:
VLAD HOSTS THE BEST PODCAST IN BITCOIN@Vladcostea

Paralelni Polis is dead horrible news for bitcoin adoption in Europe This was the first cafe to accept bitcoin payments in 2014 Had a coworking space where you could meet hackers & anarchists Hosted hundreds of conferences & community meetups Nurtured open source startups Displayed the works of underground artists Sold overpriced drinks and food that everyone gladly bought to support the movement Even mobilized the community during the pandemic to have a huge remote conference with dozens of volunteering hosts and guests If you were a bitcoiner who came to visit Prague, Paralelni Polis would let you sleep in their dorm for free. If no dorm was available, they had couches too Now it’s dead. Much like bitcoin adoption in Europe. In the beginning, they would force all cafe customers to buy bitcoin to pay for the drinks. There was a Bitcoin ATM at the entrance, but the employees would usually offer to trade bitcoin for cash in person to avoid the 10% fee. In recent years, Paralelni Polis rebranded as Second Culture. Started accepting credit cards for payment, cut down on the number of events, faced an identity crisis that ultimately led to its demise. Even some OGs who basically built the place didn’t want to visit anymore. Call it local drama and politics, but it was bad for everybody involved. The worst of outcomes happened and bitcoin culture is now crippled. I feel sorry for the newcomers who will never experience the joy of walking into this place to experience a true bitcoin economy. Heavily ideological, but somehow functional. Now Paralelni Polis and its incumbent Institute of Cryptoanarchy are dead. What remains inside is an unplugged ATM and the Monero logo on the door – a hint that the dream of peer to peer electronic cash has moved elsewhere. Now we never spend, shake hands with bankers and deny the existence of a second best while technically losing by every significant metric. Good night, sweet prince!

great paper from @smartestxyz about defi, components and biz models:
G@smartestxyz

Today I am happy to post one of my longest working papers, the DeFi evolution over the last 9 years. From @Uniswap , @CurveFinance , @Balancer Evolution to the rise of @HyperliquidX this Paper covers all significant improvements in the last 9-10 years. I hope you enjoy reading this one. After the last papers were all TradFi approaches, this one comes back to our hometown, DeFi. (drive.google.com/file/d/1EAxEh3…)
