My next Universals paper [0] is out today! Unleashing the Power of End-User Programmable AI As a demonstration of what can be accomplished with contemporary LLMs, this paper outlines the high-level design of an AI-first, program-synthesis framework built around a new programming language, Universalis, designed for knowledge workers to read, optimized for our neural computer to execute, and ready to be analyzed and manipulated by an accompanying set of tools. We call the language Universalis in honor of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Leibniz's centuries-old program of a universal science for coordinating all human knowledge into a systematic whole comprises two parts: (1) a universal notation by use of which any item of information whatsoever can be recorded naturally and systematically, and (2) a means of manipulating the knowledge thus recorded in a computational fashion, to reveal its logical interrelations and consequences. Exactly what current day LLMs provide! As always, comments welcome!

Execution is a skill. It's not enough to simply have an idea; executing on that idea, knowing when to do what, and adjusting your plans to accomplish the end goal is a distinct ability that must be developed.

Dear @Microsoft, Please stop updating the XBox desktop app via Microsoft store update. It's extremely disruptive. If you want to continuously update, build a PWA or design a more transparent update system. This is table stakes for modern consumer-facing experiences.

People implementing systems like databases, OS, ..., and browsers often argue that garbage collected languages are too slow compared to unmanaged languages. However if you amortize the lost productivity of millions of people updating to a "new" Chrome nearly every day, then I am pretty sure that using a slower but safer memory safe language would overal be a clear performance improvement without any doubt. That, or continue to use C++ but at least come up with a fucking mechanism to dynamically update without needing to reboot.
