Michelle Louise Collier disappeared on Feb. 19, 1978. Nearly five decades later, a Kern County Jane Doe has finally been identified as the missing 15-year-old. DNA breakthroughs led to identifying the murdered Fresno teen and her family said they are “forever grateful." The Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) announced Tuesday that Collier was the unidentified girl whose skeletal remains were discovered in a shallow grave at a rural Kern County vineyard. A tractor operator found the remains in June 1978, but investigators were unable to identify her at the time. Addressing her sister through tears, Dunbar said, “To our sister Shell. You didn’t deserve to die this way, Shelley. Barely 15 years old, still a child with your whole life ahead of you. I’m sorry that we didn’t protect you.” Dunbar also had a message for her sister’s assailant. “To the person who killed our sister, the shock of finding out we lost our sister to a homicide is overwhelming to our entire family, especially to our 85-year-old mother Maria,” Dunbar said. “Your cowardice act affected our entire family – but make no mistake. Interesting. Amid reports of Sean "Diddy" Combs getting into a fight and being placed in solitary confinement, his release date seems to have moved up per the BOP website. It went from April 15, 2028 to February 23, 2028...now it's January 24, 2028. I wonder what actually happened. Former Associate Warden at the Brooklyn federal jail MDC, Dr. DeWayne Hendrix, tells me: “Prior to this incident, Sean Combs appeared to be making positive institutional progress, with reports of good adjustment and programming participation reflected in changes to his projected release date. Until the Bureau of Prisons provides details about what occurred, it’s impossible to know whether this was an isolated disciplinary issue or something more serious. If Combs is seeking executive clemency or a sentence commutation, decision-makers will review overall institutional record, and disciplinary issues are certainly among the factors they take into account. The timing of this incident couldn’t have come at a worse time, however, depending on the findings it may have meaningful impact on the final decision.”
