@Makeshifts98 @Bobbythirdway “They’re the same in practice within a capitalistic system” is a different statement than “they’re the same” In democratic socialism, the goal is to eventually achieve communism. In social democracy, maintaining a liberal, capitalistic system is the end goal.

The affordability of homes and education have been steadily getting worse, but the YIMBY movement is working to combat home prices. America’s healthcare costs have never not been a joke.

@lambdanthony @barbarismcrit Of course, those are included in the inflation adjustment. Healthcare and education grew less than wages, at the median. Rent only barely, barely outpaced wages. House prices did significantly. But it's all included.

@barbarismcrit Trump has done damage, but there were respectable wage gains from 2019-2025. Unemployment is 4.3%, and labor force participation is at near-record highs. But housing is rough, job mobility is down. The economy is best characterized as fine, with warning signs. Not catastrophic.
