Idk what exactly it takes to coach a high press but I'm sure the manager who didn't let Barca escape its own half in the 8-2 knows a thing or two about it. The team has no legs to high press consistently and has no defenders to adopt a different approach. Can you blame Flick?

I feel like this will keep being their undoing, the way they've shoehorned this Cubarsi guy into the 11 just bc he's somewhat decent while in possession but an absolute catastrophe without, add to that he's extremely slow for the modern football standard.

He is not a better transition threat than Harry Kane and most importantly he is not a better box threat than Harry Kane, there is no aspect of being a ST where he’s comparable to Kane

There are dozens of deeper midfielders who are "more complete" than Busquets. It's not an achievement. Busquets was a first receiver who could bypass an entire line of press both by receiving+turning and passing. That is infinitely more valuable to a team than whatever Rodri does

Rodri discourse is hilarious. "6/8" hybrid that does neither job to an elite level and needs a complementary babysitting profile next to him (Bernie/Stones) to *activate* his 6/8 package. This goes against said team optimization.

Look at how much effort Leao uses just to get free before receiving the ball. He often receives it in difficult positions or tight spaces. This can happen at mid-level clubs, but top teams like Barcelona usually create situations where players receive the ball in more comfortable areas.
For example, look at Rashford in our games. In many of his clips, he does not need to use as much effort before receiving the ball.
That is why I do not think the “lazy” argument really works for Leao, when analyzing him on the ball.
