I recently asked leaders in my community what their top concern was in their remote or hybrid workplace and this was it. In my last blog, I tackled this topic in depth. (🔗 Below). ⏰ Shared Experiences > Shared Time🌅 Connect Early 💰 Embrace The Cost 📦 Think Outside the Job

@sirjonathan joined @lancehrobbins and I on our latest episode of Fractional as our first guest. We talked about his background in helping others and building a business, his relentless curiosity, and his love of Polytopia. Here's a short clip from the episode.

Cultural Disorientation. /noun/ When you know your culture isn't great, but you don't know why. Often results in uninformed attempts to create culture through ill-advised activity.

It’s not people vs. profit. Stop viewing people ops as a cost center and start leveraging it for profit. Engagement + Retention (people) = $$$ (profits) That’s worth inventing in!

@safetywing Self awareness. Remote employees are at higher risk for burnout. Knowing where your personal boundaries are and having the self discipline to shut off the apps to actually disconnect when you aren’t working is important.

@shayhowe I’d suggest a look at @XWP lots of large scale publishing clients and some really talented WP engineers working there. A lot of great names on this list already!

I’m especially pleased that I’ll continue to support XWP as one of my clients, but I’m actively looking for new opportunities to serve other teams. If you know of anyone that needs someone with Remote Operations and HR/People Ops leadership experience, I’d love to chat with them.

I’m taking all that I’ve learned in my 9 years of non-tech operations executive work and 5+ years of remote & people ops leadership to begin serving new clients.

TL;DR - My full-time role at XWP is coming to an end on Jan 31. I’m starting my journey as a Fractional People Ops Leader / Head of Remote and I’m open for business! 2023 marks a new start for me.

I may partner for an initiative or two, serve as an advisor, fill an ongoing supportive role to a lean people ops team, or fill a fractional Head of Remote position for an early-stage distributed or hybrid team.

Once you’ve worked out a world-class way of treating your people, give an inside scoop on exactly how you do it. Hiring process, onboarding, cultural events, even offboarding. It’s not an overnight transformation, but if you do the work here, you’ll slowly be positioning yourself
