Preachers…It is better to cultivate our souls than our voices. It is better to polish our hearts than our pulpit manners…We cannot take our people beyond where we ourselves have been. - Tozer

It’s really easy to tell the world “God is on the throne and in control” when it’s not YOUR country facing extinction or your family that has become a causality. It’s a statement dripping with privilege.

Does anyone else find it impossible to read or quote Romans 6:11 without having your thoughts instantly derailed by "Oliver!"?

Today, on my 29th birthday, I preached the Gospel. I held our 8-week-old son. Got “smooches” from our 5-year-old daughter. And ate a delicious cake made by my wife. Today was a good day.

@evanwickham This concept has been a crucial part of our journey for the past 5 years. It is crazy how early family interactions can influence how you interact with the Family. Stoked for y’all! ✌️

Sometimes, we have to look back to move forward. With the help and comfort of the Holy Spirit, this is what we plan to do together this week at Park Hill Church. For God's glory in San Diego as it is in heaven.

Our Emotionally Healthy Church series continues tomorrow @prkhllchrch. I'll be giving a teaching called "Break the Power of the Past." Our families of origin have shaped us profoundly, for better or worse. Jesus is calling us to live into our new identity as the Family of God.

@evanwickham Sheesh.. this is so good. I wonder at which point “dysfunctional” relationships go toxic and need detached or severed. Maybe when individuals cease to desire or acknowledge the need for change??

GAME changer. Serious wisdom. And VERY encouraging and empowering for those rough relationship moments. (Speaking for myself hello 🙋🏻‍♂️)

Today my wife gave birth to our son. I held him and read the Nicene Creed to (over) him. His sister held him until begrudgingly giving him up to grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Today was a good day.

@audreyassad This was my experience - like the ground beneath you gives way.. Extremely difficult and lonely in tribes that seem to value the arrival of certainty more than journey of mystery and questioning
