MORNING MAJOR WINTER STORM UPDATE! 1/23 Everything is still on track for a dangerous Winter storm that will last through the weekend for a large area of the country. The storm starts tonight across the Central US & gets going Saturday PM into Sunday across the Eastern US. No significant changes overnight. A swatch of very heavy snow & sleet with a significant to extreme ice storm is expected. We have two areas that will maximize with ice. That will likely be where Louisiana, Arkansas & Mississippi come together. Watch out for NE Texas & SW Tennessee also. The other area will be NE Georgia, NW South Carolina & a large section of NC (especially SW North Carolina). A wild card in all this is a dry slot. I want to watch if that cuts down on Winter weather totals for areas of the Southeast. Tight moisture gradient sets up just South of interstate 20 then up 95. Short range models are especially dry on moisture for areas East of the mountains. Something to watch for.. Another wild card area is the ice storm region for the Southeast. There is a chance I believe that some of these sections stay sleet longer & avoid catastrophic freezing rain totals. We will see. Remember.. We all know what snow is (at least I hope). The confusing thing is sleet & freezing rain with the public. Sleet is just little pellets of ice.. like BB's of ice. Freezing rain is literally rain but it's below freezing outside so it's freezing on surfaces. Lastly, PLEASE STOP LOOKING AT YOUR DEFAULT WEATHER APPS. THEY ALL ARE INCREDIBLY STUPID. That is all.

On the actual basketball side of all of this: Bediako was an elite rim protector and a solid rebounder for Alabama in 2023. One of their biggest issues this season has been center depth. He solves that immediately I expect him to come off the bench and be a backup to Sherrell
