Uhuru received the LAPPSET (Lamu Port–South Sudan–Ethiopia Transport) corrider blueprint from Kibaki projected to cost $25 billion. The project was to improve trade and movement of goods between Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia in realization of vision 2030. Lets analyze the scope of works and completion status. Lamu port - Completed and 3 berths commisioned and operational. Remaining 29 berths to be finished in the course of implementation period as demand arises. Isiolo-Moyale A2 road 504 km - Done and open. It was used last year to transport 60,000 tons of bulk fertilizer to Addis Ababa from Lamu Port. Isiolo-Lodwar-Nadapal road - 99% complete. 11km remaining due to disagreements with Juba. SGR from Lamu to Addis Ababa and Juba - Not done at all. Pipeline to the 2 countries - minute jobs done Isiolo oil refinery - Not done. President Ruto shifted focus to Tanga refinery Isiolo International Airport - Done but barely operational Hotels, restaurants and resort cities in Isiolo, Lokichogio and Mandera - Not done. High Grand Falls to supply power - Still in the talks. Critical infrastructure like Lamu port, Isiolo Airport and roads done. Ruto should atleast do the SGR and pipeline to make sure vision 2030 remains a reality.

#LamuPort has received the MV Baltimore Express, setting a new record of the largest vessel in the region, with 369 meters overall length. The vessel arrived from Oman’s Salalah Port. The #LAPSSET anchor project has so far handled over 120 vessels since the start of the year, with more expected to call in the coming days. The government is at the forefront to ensure the port is well equipped with more handling equipment, as the Port continues to set standards for global trade. #AfricaInfrastructure #GlobalTrade #Maritime #StrategicInfrastructure
