But that's the thing.
A striker's primary job isn't to track back and form a defensive midfield line.
It's a luxury, not a structural requirement.
For a wide midfielder (RM/LM) in a 4-4-2, maintaining that 4-man midfield block out of possession is a mandatory part of their job.
You are trying to equate a striker helping out with a midfielder executing his exact positional duties.
