FULL REVIEW...NO SPOILERS Finally a Scream movie that acknowledges it's own franchise faults, and leans into it. There's a lot to love about 7. Think about it....this is the first time really since Scream 2, where Sidney is the main focal point. Sure she's the star of a lot of these movies, but often seems to take a back seat to the main plot. This time, SHE is the plot. The story is stripped down to the meat and potatoes of a straight forward slasher film in a lot of ways. There's less focus on nostalgia and callbacks to other horror films like the others. Less focus on "the rules". And I actually love that. It's actually refreshing and sets this movie apart to not be bogged down by all that baggage. Isabelle May (Tatum) is really great and the mother/daughter friction feels real and earned because it's very relatable. Sidney's reaction to this feel genuine. A mother withholding, not going deep, with her daughter to protect her. This might be my favorite portrayal of Gale since the first. She gets a GOLDEN entrance that had the crowd roaring. The final act is where most that don't like/hate the movie have the biggest problem with Scream 7, and they're not wrong. But at this point in the franchise, we're fully in Scooby Doo land. I kind of embraced the absurdity of it, and Sidney ROYALLY kicks major a** in this section of the movie. Honestly Scream 7 is a reset, and and welcome one.

i have a confession to make it think 'actually romantic' is directly addressing the fans and various internet comments. she's saying she gets off on success and her relationship with her fans
