Today is the four year anniversary of my arrival to Ukraine. This is not the anniversary video I wanted to be making, but it’s the one that needed to be made. 🙏🏼

I cannot even imagine the pain this woman has endured. Olesia’s entire family was killed by russians, and she joined the army to fight them. Olesia was a surgeon, a wife, and a mother of two. Her parents lived in Mariupol. When the full-scale war began in 2022, Olesia's parents helped evacuate civilians. After the russians captured Mariupol, collaborators betrayed them, and both were executed. Their bodies lay in the street for nearly three months before the russians dumped them into a pit. Olesia's children were staying with relatives in the Kyiv region. Her daughter was four, and her son was eleven. Their evacuation bus was struck by an enemy projectile, killing them both. After their children’s deaths, Olesia's husband, also a surgeon, joined the army. In September, while evacuating the wounded from Bakhmut, a missile struck his car. Having lost her entire family, Olesia returned to Ukraine from Italy and joined the army as a combat medic. There are thousands of stories like this in Ukraine. People who lost everything. By this war, russians have set in motion a force that will hunt them for generations. Ukraine will never forget.

Debbie was on the road to recovery, but she’s taken a sudden turn. She’s stopped eating, and tests show severe anemia, liver dysfunction and systemic infection. A blood transfusion helped stabilise her for now, but her condition remains serious. Healing thoughts for Debbie 🙏🏼💖

Governments of European countries calculating how much they should spend on countering Russian and Chinese online disinformation and propaganda:

This is exactly how the press should be reporting this story: “Orbán’s government robbed a Ukrainian state bank — then a Fidesz tabloid ran AI fakes to justify it.” So, what actually happened? An armored convoy belonging to the Ukrainian state bank Oschadbank was stopped in Hungary. Seven Ukrainian citizens were detained and the cash was confiscated. Oschadbank is a Ukrainian state bank that has a legal license to transport cash across borders. In this case, the cash was being moved from Austria to Ukraine. This is routine banking logistics. Ukrainian banks must regularly import foreign cash (dollars and euros) because Ukrainians buy far more foreign currency than they sell each month. Before the war, this cash often arrived by plane. With Ukrainian airspace closed, it now travels by land. Every step of such operations is documented and monitored — the source of the money, the route, the insurance, and the banks involved. These are tightly regulated international financial procedures. You simply cannot move “corruption money” through such a system. But, of course, this became a perfect opportunity for Orbán and russian propaganda to push false narratives. A disinformation campaign quickly followed, using AI-generated fake images of Ukrainian cash-in-transit guards. The images were published by Ripost, a tabloid controlled and funded by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party. And people, incapable of critical thinking, eagerly helped spread the fake images and propaganda narratives — including the claim that the cash was “money laundering by Zelenskyy.” But in reality, all that happened was this: Orbán’s government seized the funds of a Ukrainian state bank — and then a Fidesz tabloid published AI fakes to justify it.

Russian soldiers are starving on the battlefield — and asking Ukrainians to take them prisoner. On the Lyman front, Ukrainian reconnaissance units intercepted a message from Russian troops begging to surrender. Their message: “Ready to surrender. No strength left. Haven’t eaten for three weeks. Need food and communication.” According to Ukraine’s 66th Mechanized Brigade, Russia’s logistics on this sector continue to deteriorate. The situation is so severe that some Russian soldiers now see Ukrainian captivity as their only chance to survive. The crisis is not new. In 2025, due to the lack of evacuation for wounded troops, over 55% of injured Russian soldiers died. This winter, that number has risen above 65%. A modern army cannot fight without logistics.
