Laserkid is now an uncle!

Name origin for those that don't know. Laserkid's a superhero I made up as a child. I still can't draw well, but I still draw him.

Reggie Fils-Aimé says an Amazon Executive asked for something illegal of Nintendo, so they stopped working together for a time: “At that time, you know, just in the Americas, I was selling ten million DS’ a year, we’re driving a lot of revenue. We had a lot of scale. And, at the time, Amazon was looking to get bigger into the video game space. Amazon’s mentality back then is they wanted to have the lowest price out in the marketplace, even lower than Walmart. And one of their executives called me… well, it was a conversation that got to me after it had progressed through all of the levels of my sales organization, and essentially what Amazon wanted is an obscene amount of support, financial support, so they could have the lowest price and beat Walmart. I literally said to the executive, “You know that’s illegal, right? I can’t do that.” You know you get silence on the other end, ‘but this is what I want.’ Literally we stopped selling to Amazon, and it’s because I wasn’t going to do something illegal. I wasn’t going to do something that would put at risk the relationship we have with other retailers. But it also set the stage to say, look, you’re not going to push me around. @nadaqui123 I thought it was weird even back in 2008 when I bought those sets.

I always find it weird that Hunter x Hunter 1999 took until 2008 to be officially released in the US, it feels like an anime that would fit perfectly on Adult Swim in the early 2000's.

@HeroPropaganda Dragon Warrior 1 at a friends place, I was 8 or 9, didn't really understand it but did enjoy it anyway. Didn't really get into the series until 7 came out on PS1.

@thattugglife I get where you're coming from there, but the franchise needs to repair its relationship with its fanbase, and that does require repairing its legacy characters. It doesn't *have* to adapt Thrawn, but SOMETHING needs to be done with them, which would require recasts at this point

“Replace it with Zahn’s trilogy” How? With deepfakes and crappy de-aging CGI on a new cast? No thanks. That ship sailed a long time ago on the USS Giant Mistake. Time to move past it and do something else.

The only Star Wars content we’d had since Return of the Jedi in 1983 was the Marvel comic book. Eight years of almost nothing. Then this came out. My girlfriend and I drove 45 minutes to Birmingham, bought it, ate at the food court, and left the bag under the table. The next day we drove back and bought another copy!

You never know what you'll run into in anime. This time last year I ran into an anime that blew my mind so much I've been calling it the perfect anime ever since. Zenshu is in my top 3 anime of all time, and I've been at this since 1994. Bring it on, Spring 2026!

@animeheadsretro I did have anime VHS beforehand, still have some, but I gave most of it away as I got DVD and/or Bluray replacements (looking at you Fatal Fury the motion picture on VHS, DVD, and Bluray 😅)

@animeheadsretro Thanks, been buying Anime DVDs since 2000, so it all adds up over time 🤣 As for G Gundam, it's my favorite Gundam so I knew I had to get it, and pre ordered it before it came out. It's pretty crazy!

Hey everyone! I've noticed that when I post about Blu ray collecting engagement always seems to go up and more importantly..... I've also been thinking about how there aren't really ANY dedicated online resources for what's available on Blu ray/DVD/4k or unavailable/out of print for Anime like there are for regular movies. Given Anime's growing popularity in the west that seems a bit nuts to me in 2026. To that end when I post about stuff in the future I'm going to try to include as much info as possible about when/where i bought it (especially if it's an older release) and whether it's still in print or not. I have a decent haul of Blu rays coming through the post so will "put my money where my mouth is" and cover them in that capacity when they arrive. In an era where people are being accused of Anime tourism and "Larping" (ridiculous use of the phrase) it seems more important than ever to give information freely.... (call me old fashioned here) and........not be a dick. Here's a shot of 2/4 of the Anime Blu ray shelves (only omitting some cause there's stuff all over the Otaku room today, having a change around). Some Manga is mixed in here due to space issues but most of my Manga lives elsewhere :) #AnimeBluRays #BluRay #RetroAnime
