@SonofManwithus Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 Church affiliation won't make a difference.

I graduated!!! I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Psychology, summa cum laude! Five years ago, I started this journey with an eighth-grade education, and even that was from a Scientology school, where critical thinking was discouraged and the quality of instruction was subpar, to say the least. I did not get here alone. Thank you to @NYUSPS and @DeanKamath. Thank you to everyone who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me, especially on the days I was not sure I could do this. And there were plenty of those days. To my therapist, who told me not to give up when I was told I likely would not be accepted into a prestigious program. To my tutor, without whom I likely would have given up at the harder points along the way. To all those here who have sent me loving messages on social media. And to everyone else who has cheered me on in person through the ups and the downs of it, it means more than I can put into words. It got me over this finish line of being a student again and graduating. That goal once seemed impossible. To those who have asked me, “Why this? Why now?” I pursued higher education to reclaim a piece of myself. When you come out of a high-control group like Scientology, or even a high-control family, there are parts of you that were never allowed to fully develop. Those parts include your curiosity and your ability and right to question. Education was discouraged because knowledge creates confidence in your ability to trust your own mind and navigate the world. That leads to true independence, and that would never be allowed. I wanted that back. But more than that, I needed to understand. I needed to understand how my mother could have us join Scientology when I was just eight years old, and how my family and I could be part of something like this and stay in it for so long. I needed to understand how these systems work, how they influence people, and how they take hold. Without education, access to real information, and support, people can fall into systems that work against their best interests. Some assume that because they are educated, even highly educated, they would never fall for something like this. But it turns out that is not necessarily true. What many of us are impacted by, but never quite understand, is how high-control groups operate. Many still do not understand how misinformation spreads, and how tribalism and radicalization shape what we think, what we believe, and who and what we trust. Without that awareness, none of us are immune. Today, we are seeing how these forces can influence good people and distort reality. History has shown us that this is not new; it just comes in a different form now. Social media connects us in ways we never imagined, but it also creates echo chambers that reinforce beliefs and justify behavior without question. Real critical thinking is hard when we are fed so much by algorithms designed to appeal to us. In learning and achieving this milestone in my own life, it has helped me take a good, hard look at my own beliefs and ideologies. This journey was about healing for me, but also about figuring out how to help others in whatever way I can in the future. So what is in my future? I am considering continuing my education and possibly pursuing a master’s degree, with the goal of contributing to advocacy and policies that protect people, not systems. For now, I am taking this moment in. I am proud of myself. And I am grateful. Thank you for being on this journey with me.

I hope and pray that Savannah Gutherie's mom is found and is brought home safe. But I also would like to live in a world where a kidnapped Child of Color received this level of media coverage or anywhere close to it. When does this type of thing finally change? It's 2026.

@JustinPetersMin I agree with most of your narrative although I do not agree with claiming to affirm someone else's salvation. Only God gets to do that. It can be tempting to be prideful as a Christian but we must resist that.

Gotta come alongside Gabe here. He is right. I just watched the video in question, and yes, there is profanity, and yes, he did "flip the bird" at his critics. This is not about making a definitive declaration on where Kid Rock will spend eternity, but just because a celebrity claims Jesus and can articulate some semblance of the Gospel does not mean he or she is regenerate. A Christian is marked by a godly sorrow over sin (2 Cor. 7:9-11). He is grieved by it. Gleefully repeating sinful lyrics and flipping the bird at his critics is many things, but it definitely is not that. At the very, very, very best, he would be a young, very immature believer. If that is the case, he should not be proclaiming Christ in any kind of public way (he's not ready) and certainly should not be doing it in this way. He should be in a doctrinally sound church led by biblically qualified men and learning quietly. When will we learn not to jump on the bandwagon of the latest celebrity who professes Christ? How many times must we be burned? How much reproach upon Christ's name are we willing to risk by prematurely 'laying our hands' on someone and thereby becoming participators in their sin (1 Tim. 5:22)? Remember Justin Bieber? Kanye West? I have nothing at all against Kid Rock (to this day, I've never heard a single one of his songs, save for the one he rapped in this video). I will pray that he truly comes to know Christ. But to publicly affirm his salvation at this point is both unwarranted and unwise. Wait. As John MacArthur rightly said, "Time and truth go hand in hand." Can God save a celebrity? Of course. Does He save many? No (1 Cor. 1:26). But when He does save one, the best thing for that celebrity and for the witness of the Gospel is for him or her to withdraw from the spotlight and learn and grow quietly in a good, sound, local body of believers.
Gabriel Hughes@Pastor_Gabe

I’m sorry, guys, Kid Rock is not a Christian. I’m not going to share the video, because I’m committed to not posting profanity on my X wall. But one of his halftime songs was as wrong as Bad Bunny’s lyrics. He just ran through his “Bawitdaba” rap on his channel, singing about topless dancers, crackheads, drunks, and hookers, saying, “It's all good, and it’s all in fun, now get in the pit and try to love someone” (I still remember this song from when I was a teen—it’s not new to me). To all the haters who criticized the performance, he flipped them off (still below). His explanation of his set really doesn’t sound like he thought of it as “Here’s what I used to be” to “Here’s what I am now in Christ” as many have interpreted it. No, it was more a demonstration that he’s a double-minded man. He’s still Kid Rock, and all the filthy, sordid lyrics that come with that. Has he repented of singing, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage”? I’ve been taking heat even from my brethren for saying we need to stop celebrating guys like Kid Rock and Jelly Roll as regenerate Christian men. They’re not. They’re saying the thing, “Jesus is Lord,” but their hearts are far from Him (Matthew 15:8). Jesus said you will know them by their fruit (Matt. 7:16). Where is it? My wonderful, beloved brethren, being purified by Christ, the fight here is not, “My halftime show is better than your halftime show.” This culture is going to hell and needs the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s what will save people and change this people for the better. Don’t take your eye off the ball or your eyes off Christ. He’s the prize. Pray guys like Kid Rock will come to know the truth and repent. He hasn’t yet.

Call me crazy but I would not have my 84+ yr old mother with medical conditions & limited mobility living on her own, in a different State in a large single family home in a remote area with far away neighbors. I also wonder how a woman that age with medical issues is going out at night to church events coming home at 930? Make this make sense
