@oltxiu@taylorapp2@inejsghafaz hm and still.. we weren’t using colorism in India’s entertainment industry as the context or baseline of this conversation. sorry!
@lasuili@taylorapp2@inejsghafaz You verbatim said “even among south asian women, lara is not ‘dark skinned’”. Who’s the one deciding the standards here? South asian people. Colourism in the entertainment industry is still very relevant here.
@oltxiu@taylorapp2@inejsghafaz no, dear, she’s a medium tone even among south asian people. forcing her into the dark skinned category is only erasure for those who actually are. it is okay to not be dark skinned, she is still outstanding representation for brown women.
@lasuili@taylorapp2@inejsghafaz I’m not denying there’s plenty of people that are way darker than her but especially for Indian celebrity standards she’s pretty dark. Look at how light the skin of typical Bollywood actresses are.
@lasuili@taylorapp2@inejsghafaz She’s dark skin Indian. Shes not considered dark if you compare her to monoracial black people but she’s dark for Indian standards.
