You, Keir Starmer, by pandering to Islamist voters for your party’s survival and recognising Palestine while Hamas still held Israeli hostages are responsible for fuelling anti-Semitism. Your far left student government is in the gutter. Jews hate you. So do we. @Keir_Starmer

As Jewish communities come together to celebrate Chanukah, I send my warmest wishes to families across the UK and around the world. May the Festival of Lights bring hope, peace and comfort. Chanukah Sameach.

If not now, then never. Hospitality has spent years shouting into the void while costs climb, margins collapse and Westminster shrugs. We have done the meetings, the roundtables, the consultations. We have written the letters, signed the petitions, sat through the polite conversations that lead absolutely nowhere. Enough. The NoLabourMP ban has cut through like nothing our industry has ever done. One simple act. One clear message. One united front. Overnight we grabbed the attention of the nation. That doesn’t happen twice. You either lean in now or you watch the moment pass you by and nothing changes. We need every pub, every restaurant, every takeaway, every cafe, every bar, every hotel, every event space to join in. Even if all you do is stick a sign on the door, take a photo and post it. Social media does the rest. The reach is enormous. The pressure builds fast. That is how you force a government to the table. This is not about politics. This is about survival. Our sector cannot absorb another year of rising costs, rising taxes, falling margins and empty promises. We cannot keep being the punchbag for ministers who have never run a business in their lives. If we don’t act together now, we will regret it. The window is open. The country is watching. Labour MPs are rattled. Good. They should be. We are fighting for the future of an industry that employs millions and keeps every high street alive. So rise up. Join in. Add your voice. Add your photo. Add your pressure. (And if you can’t do that then at least RT and tag a fellow Hospo) If not now, then never. We must get a Vat Cut Discover thewonkytable.co.uk/currentcampaign #TaxedOut #Hospitality #NoLabourMPs #CutVat

My Times piece: After recessions in the early 1980s and 1990s the UK emerged with strong, lasting growth. But not after the financial crisis and pandemic, when the economy failed to reboot: We’ve let crises go to waste and emerged with a weakened economy thetimes.com/article/76cb03…

Reeves dumps the big pile of shite on the doorstep of every small business in Britain, then just forgets about it and moves on with her life. Salary safe, job safe. No concerns about paying the bills in the Reeves household, or indeed any of the civil servants who devised this skip fire of a budget. They don’t care. They don’t understand, but more important they just don’t care. Straight out of university, work for some anonymous Labour MP, maybe a think tank or a charity if we’re feeling adventurous. Then straight into life as a backbench MP or some random civil servant in the Treasury. How many have run a business? Created wealth? Generated jobs? Done anything?! SOD ALL. It’s easy looking at the spreadsheets. Thinking oh a dividend rate rise here, or freezing that threshold - that’ll cover the numbers needed to hike up welfare. There are VERY real world consequences to all of these decisions. Businesses are still reeling from the NI changes last year. And I mean reeling. Not enormous businesses had to find £300k? Possibly more to cover these rises? What happens then, Rachel? Costs get passed on. Contracts stall. Hiring cancelled. Investment paused. It grinds the economy to a halt. Businesses stop spending money. Redundancies. OBVIOUSLY. How can they not understand this? Honestly? I cannot fathom the sheer vastness of their incompetence. All of this to fund those who choose not to work. Leaves a real sour taste in the mouth, doesn’t it? Running a business is hard work, bloody hard work. It doesn’t just happen, and it doesn’t just work. It takes years of long days and sleepless nights. All that, with lots and lots of risk. There is no backup or a safety net. It works, or it doesn’t work. It’s brutal. I’m sorry to say that the vast majority of my MP colleagues simply do not understand that. It is overwhelmingly depressing. The ONLY way to get the economy firing is to reduce tax, reduce the size of the state and let businesses do what they do best - make money. And actually, if you let them keep more of it? They’ll do more. Work more. Pay more tax. THAT is how you grow the economy. That is the ONLY way.

I am ending the unrestricted use of taxis by asylum seekers for hospital appointments, authorising them only in the most exceptional circumstances.   I will continue to root out waste as we close every single asylum hotel. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@RichardBurgon You have obviously never ran a business. In fact you have probably never had a proper job. This idea will send thousands of entrepreneurs overseas, then who is going to pay the taxes this country needs?

BREAKING: Over 50 MPs have now backed my Parliamentary Motion for a Wealth Tax. A 2% tax on assets over £10 million would raise £24 Billion a year. At the Budget, we need to tax extreme wealth - not ordinary people.
