Over the last couple of years, the San Francisco 49ers have shown legitimate interest in Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have been willing to invest in edge rushers.

The Niners were dead last in sacks last season. They lost Bryce Huff to retirement, they've made a bunch of WIN-NOW moves this offseason and Myles Garrett would certainly fit that.

The Niners are doing exactly the same things that the Saints have done, and it makes sense. They are spreading the money out over time, dumping players with improperly valued deals, and adding void years on contracts they know they will never get to. They do all of this to keep the window open. If they don't win it all this year, they will be flat for the next decade.

I am a Seahawk fan, but I love what the Niners are doing right now. BA is going to be a post June 1 designation, so the team can split his dead cap money over two seasons instead of one. They can cut him today, but by holding him- he loses opportunities to sign elsewhere. Drag this out- dude is a total bum.

Why are the 49ers not releasing Aiyuk? Cap purposes? I know he has accrued 4+ years and can be released prior to the new league year. Even if you blame Aiyuk and him only, this is nasty work by the 49ers to not allow him to hit Free Agency in the early stages if there are no cap implications.

@Absolution361 @Coach_Yac He has missed 15 games in 10 NFL seasons. That is remarkable for anyone who has played that long. The bad news is that all of his injuries have been about the hamstrings. 3 games in 2019, 3 games in 2024, and 9 games last year. Those hammies don't get stretchier over time.
