Alright, time to share my interpretation of CSM as a whole now that its over This’ll be long but i havent seen anyone else interpret it this way so here we go

@monosou_ I wonder if him becoming a private devil hunter would’ve made the point come across better since, me personally, I don’t like Public Safety much to begin and I’m not sure they’re treating him, Nayuta or Powy any better than in Part I.

(Well, technically, he still is the government's dog. But functionally to the story, we see Denji do things on his own, outside of orders, which is the important aspect.) But like what you like and hate what you hate, its a free country 👍

Yall throw this word "agency" around a ton and honestly I have no idea why its even in the conversation. If y'all think Pochita is taking away Denji's agency, that means y'all thought Denji had any in the first place. There's very much the illusion of choice throughout.

I don’t think this was the best ending the story could’ve had. It feels like Fujimoto had this ending planned, but he got burned out because of how the manga industry works, so he rushed things and that ended up affecting the result

Saying nothing that happened in CSM matters anymore feels so weird. Not just cuz this is the result of the world collapsing and Denji’s own actions, but also cuz what we see in this new world shows he still carries his experiences with the people who mattered in his life 🧵

@bumblemio @mkmcsm - if raised by Denji, which she was, and that’s why she acts the way she does. Because erasing Pochita didn’t erase Denji’s influence on the world. Raising Nayuta is one of the few things Denji did good on his own. He took the love he learned from and gave it to someone else.

@bumblemio @mkmcsm I think a small change that might make this easier to understand is to have Makima look the same but act like Nayuta. I think because of Alt!Nayuta looking like, well, herself, people think she like came back from the dead or something. But no, this is just how Makima would be -

@crombula_ I think the issue is Death is expected to have more characterization because she’s set up as one of the four horseman, like Makima, Nayuta, and Yoru, who explicitly are characters. But Death is just Part II’s Gun Devil, except she has some lines. Same thing with Fami.

I’m really curious what CSM’s message about victimhood and abuse was. If Pochita didn’t end things for Denji, would Denji have just continued to hurt himself? Is that the message victims should hear? “You only hurt yourself?” Is that true? Was everything Denji’s fault?
