Just been on LBC with @jhansonradio to stand up against the pensioner bashing. When we have 5 million people on benefits with no requirement to look for work - the last thing I’m going to do, is blame pensioners who have at least worked for the benefit they have

Ieri sera su rete4 hanno mostrato la busta paga di un’operaia che confeziona cioccolatini per una certa azienda (si, quella), in una ditta fra l’altro appaltata (manco la decenza di pagarli direttamente): stipendio di 8€ lordi all’ora. L’azienda in questione ha un fatturato di 19.3 miliardi e un utile di 202.4M L’Italia descritta alla perfezione. 👏🏻

I started working at 12 years old. Up at 5am delivering newspapers 7 days a week. I did Carl Bridgwaters paper round because no one would. I've never claimed benefits. My pension age has been pushed back to 67. I've worked for 50 years so far, don't you dare take away my blood pension.

@furbabygirl @jurassicjoan The two things are unrelated and both are wrong. If for example you earn £100k a year in pension why should you be entitled to state pension. It should be means tested like other benefits. And of course you shouldn’t be able to come here and get full benefits. Both are wrong

So you can pay national insurance all your life but that shouldn’t necessarily entitle you to a state pension if you’ve saved a bit on top? But you can come here and claim residency and be entitled to state benefits without ever having paid a penny in tax or national insurance?

Pensioners get free prescriptions. Pensioners get free public transport. Pensioners get their benefits locked. Pensioners get “OAP” discounts at most establishments. 1 in 4 Pensioners are Millionaires. Young working people get fucked, taxed, and then fucked again.

As it appears to be pensioner bashing weekend and pensioners seem to be the ones wholly responsible for the dire economic state of the country, I thought I'd apprise you all of some facts and figures. Between April 2024 and March 2025, the cost of keeping asylum seekers in hotels was £2.1 billion. In 2023, £15.3 billion was spent on foreign aid. As of August 2025, there were 740,000 people aged between 16 and 24 years old receiving Universal Credit. The benefits bill for people aged between 16 and 64 in 2024/25 was £123 billion. In this decade (2020s), our annual net zero transition costs are estimated to be £125 billion. UK quangos cost the taxpayers between £376 - 391 billion per year (2023/4 figures). MPs' expenses (not salaries) are in the region of £130 - 150 million a year. The UK has committed to give the European Space Agency £1.84 billion for the period 2022/27. Since 2022, the UK has committed to give Ukraine £21.8 billion. The UK continues to give money to the EU under the Brexit divorce. As at March 2024, there is still £6.4 billion outstanding. 'Free breakfasts' in schools cost the UK taxpayers an estimated 1 billion per year. I'm sure I could go on. But it's just too depressing. The spending is out of all control, and rising. The interest on our national debt rises daily. And we're governed by socialists who love spending everyone's money but their own. As do all governments and councils. But, of course, it's all the fault of old age pensioners. Rolls eyes. A lot. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I'm tired of hearing ' you don't pay in to' the state pension because if that's true, why do they assess your NI contributing years and then decide how much you get depending on contributions? (PS, I know it isn't a pot - but you do pay in to get it)

By 2027, there will be 3million pensioners who pay higher or additional rate tax. These people, by definition, are in the top 20% of all UK earners. Yet they will still receive a £12K a year state pension, in a direct transfer of cash from the poorer young to the wealthier old.
