In sum, we find nuclear export of TDP-43 occurs by passive diffusion, and processes that modulate nuclear RNA abundance or TDP-43–RNA binding – like transcription, splicing, mRNA export, and RNA binding mutations – regulate its nuclear localization and availability for export. 5/
