It’s okay, she doesn’t really mind the extended hug... but she *does kinda mind the volume, just a little. “I appreciate the enthusiasm, but you’re a bit too close to be shouting like that.” She leans away slightly, just enough to look at him. »

“Thanks, Bolin...” Eska doesn’t dettach herself—in fact, she even rests her head on his shoulder. “But I have to go back soon. The Northern Water Tribe will be looking after Prince Wu while the Earth Kingdom conflict is ongoing.” »

In some other universe, Eska would’ve run straight into Bolin’s arms. But in this one, she doesn’t immediately move. The situation still feels surreal—maybe she’s lonely enough to imagine someone she feels safe with comforting her. When she does finally come closer, — ; »

If this were any other person, Eska would confirm that hugs were off the table. But since it’s Bolin... “I don’t mind... as long as it’s a group hug with Pabu.”

“It just... feels like there’s a constant void at my side. It’s unsettling.” Even when the two of them were dating, there was rarely a time when Eska was apart from her brother. But they can’t both be away from the Northern Water Tribe for an extended duration of time.

“I’ve been... trying to improve my socialization skills, but...” Eska had been doing just fine with bantering or listening to other people (somewhat) attentively, but now she was struggling to speak—despite the indications that there are thoughts she wants to convey.

“...oh.” Obviously still unaccustomed to people being excited to see her and no, she isn’t blushing ever-so slightly—it’s just your imagination.

“You’ve already gotten my attention, Bolin—you can stop shouting my name now.”
