Our response to Assisted Dying Bill vote 👉 mariecurie.org.uk/media/press-re…
The #AssistedDyingBill debate has raised much needed awareness today about the need for better palliative and end of life care.
At this stage, the law on assisted dying has not changed and the bill will go through many more months of consideration.
But while the conversation continues, too many people are dying in unnecessary pain and often alone, because the current system is failing them. End of life care needs fixing.
English

@kesleeman @FloEshalomi 👆🏻 this. Until we fix this what more can we say.

Absolutely heartbreaking speech from @FloEshalomi especially on inequalities and marginalised groups.

Some thoughts on tomorrow’s vote on Assisted Dying, on the importance of being compassionate, and on avoiding the kind of “winner takes all” approach that was so ruinous & unrepresentative after the Brexit referendum

@PolaGrzybowska @RoySocMed @MCPCRD @UCLPsychiatry @ChurchillFship @CNWLPeople @uclh I agree - we need to consider all these things. Sorry you won’t be able to join on this occasion.
English

@lavendercrew @RoySocMed @MCPCRD @UCLPsychiatry @ChurchillFship @CNWLPeople @uclh It’s less about money, I’m a doctor, so it’s easier. It’s more about the travel, caring responsibilities, a highly female workforce, clinical workload. Education shouldn’t just be in metropolitan centres. Remote education was the only bit of Covid I enjoyed!
English

Have you booked your place yet? Delighted to be co-chairing again @RoySocMed @MCPCRD @UCLPsychiatry @ChurchillFship @CNWLPeople @uclh pls RT

English

@PolaGrzybowska @RoySocMed @MCPCRD @UCLPsychiatry @ChurchillFship @CNWLPeople @uclh I’m sorry you don’t have access to even minimal study leave funds. And I do believe virtual has much to offer but for this event the in the room case study discussions are vital. We need to push for CPD funds together as well as doing what we can to work around for those without
English

@lavendercrew @RoySocMed @MCPCRD @UCLPsychiatry @ChurchillFship @CNWLPeople @uclh Needs to be available virtually or recorded, is a local request. Many of us have little opportunity or study budgets for travel even to London for CPD. In hope 🤞
