Deep Work Requires Minimal Distractions 📵: The article recommends turning off most notifications, except for the truly important and potentially game-changing ones. This is particularly relevant for students and those aiming to achieve deep work, where minimizing distractions is crucial for optimal performance. #DeepWork #Notifications @X The Mere Presence of Your Smartphone Reduces Brain Power, Study Shows: news.utexas.edu/2017/06/26/the… lawrencemcneil.com/blog/focused-n…

Check this out, educators! After my recent post where I recommended @ulyssesapp, @mindnode, and @paste_app from @Setapp, here are two more tools you must try - PliimPRO and Diagrams. Take your online teaching experience to the next level with PliimPRO. This app ensures your online classes are free from distractions and promotes focus among students. It even has a collaboration feature for group work. If you're a fan of multi-screen teaching, PliimPRO will add to your toolset. Plus, it works well with most meeting platforms like Zoom. Check it out: Diagrams, on the other hand, is a visual aid. Whether you're brainstorming ideas or explaining complex concepts, Diagrams is useful tool for creating engaging learning aids and can be used across disciplines. It can also be used for student assessments. Check it out: diagrams.app Both PliimPRO and Diagrams are available with Setapp or for a one-time purchase. #EdTech #OnlineTeaching #AppsforTeachers pliim.app

Nice step forward. I tried to use @evernote tasks full-time and lasted about 1 week. Too many workflow shortfalls compared to competitors (no projects, small viewer, sorting/filtering constraints). Please add the ability to get emails into tasks seamlessly, without having to move them from a note to tasks.

Let’s talk X (formerly Twitter). We all know X to be one of the world’s most robust repository of current news. However, X can also serve as an hours-long source of distraction if not “hacked” properly. I tell my students to follow all companies and individuals who are thought leaders in their future disciplines. The next step is to turn on notifications from sources who could be paramount to a students’ success. X’s ability to customize notifications is a very useful tool because it allows the most important updates through to your lock screen and notifications feed. You don’t want every update from every followed source coming through; you only want the most important. I once heard someone say a notification is like someone tapping you on shoulder and asking for your attention. #Productivity #FocusOnFocus @X lawrencemcneil.com/blog/focused-n…

Focus on the skill or process, not the person, when giving feedback. This means avoiding making comments about students' intelligence or personality. Instead, focus on their work and how they can improve it. For example, instead of saying "You're not very good at this," you could say "This section is a bit confusing. Can you try rephrasing it to make it clearer?" #EffectiveFeedback #StudentGrowth @edutopia edutopia.org/article/studen…
