CARNEY: "I do not get up first thing in the morning and think about the United States. I think about Canadians ... Our destiny is first and foremost going to be determined by what we do here. Canadians get that. I'm not sure everyone south of the border understands that."

PM Carney on the Americans calling the alcohol ban an irritant: "You know what's an irritant? 50% tariffs on steel. 50% tariffs on aluminum. 25% tariffs on automobiles. All the tariffs on forest products. Those are more than irritants, those are violations of our trade deal."

The insult didn't start in a Canadian liquor store. It started at a podium in Washington. It is insulting to call one of the oldest allies, a country that sent soldiers to Normandy, Korea, Afghanistan, a state of the Union that should be absorbed. It is insulting to threaten economic warfare against a neighbour whose economic integration with America runs so deep. It is insulting to interfere in the internal politics of a sovereign ally - funding preferred candidates, amplifying separatist movements, treating a democratic election as an opportunity for destabilisation. It is insulting to stop traffic at the Friendship Bridge, a structure Canada literally built and named after the relationship being dismantled by the people now calling it insulting. It is insulting to charge entry fees to citizens of a country that shares the world's longest undefended border, a border that has been a symbol of peaceful coexistence for two centuries. It is insulting to revoke Canada's invitation to the Board of Peace for the crime of defending its own sovereignty at Davos. Canada didn't remove American spirits from shelves unprovoked. It removed them after the US spent eighteen months removing every assumption of mutual respect that made the relationship worth maintaining. #Canada #Trump

Decisions about Niagara should be made in Niagara, for Niagara. That shouldn't be controversial, or even up for debate. Premier Ford now wants to appoint - not elect - a new regional chair with strong mayor powers. #onpoli 🧵

I usually avoid engaging with Mario Zelaya posts because they’re clearly designed for engagement-driven outrage, and he’s frequently criticized for amplifying claims without solid sourcing or context. But for context: the claim he’s pushing originates from a small-claims lawsuit filed by Jeff Brown, a former criminal defence lawyer turned author. Brown alleges that in 2021 an RCMP officer shared information with him and that the Toronto Star did not publish material he says he passed along. This is a private legal claim, not a proven finding, and nothing has been established in court or confirmed by credible investigative reporting. Zelaya’s post takes that kind of unverified allegation and presents it as fact, which is part of a broader pattern in his content style. Another recent example is his claim that “Canada is floating joining the EU,” which is simply not grounded in reality. EU membership is limited to European states, and there is no credible reporting that Canada is being considered or is “asking” to join. This is how misinformation spreads: legal allegations and political fiction repackaged as certainty for clicks. And @X rewards this behavior through monetization. #Canada #Misinformation #FactCheck #MediaLiteracy #Politics #Toronto #EU #SocialMedia

JUST IN: Scientists built bacteria that EATS cancer from the inside out. The future of cancer treatment isn't a drug. It's a living organism that devours tumors from the inside. Here's how it works: Solid tumors have a dead center. No oxygen. No blood flow. Just dead cells and nutrients sitting there. Most cancer drugs can't survive in that environment. They get blocked. They break down. They never reach the core where the tumor is most protected. But researchers at the University of Waterloo found something that THRIVES there. It's called Clostridium sporogenes. A bacteria found in soil that loves oxygen-free environments. Researchers send spores directly into the tumor: 1. The bacteria wakes up in the dead, oxygen-free center 2. It starts consuming nutrients and growing 3. It multiplies and COLONIZES the space 4. It eats the tumor from the inside out Then they added something called quorum sensing. Bacteria communicate through chemical signals. When enough bacteria pile up INSIDE the tumor, those signals flip on the oxygen-tolerance gene. This means the bacteria won't activate in your bloodstream. It only activates inside the tumor, where it belongs. Think about what that means. Chemo hits everything. Good cells. Bad cells. Your hair. Your gut. Your immune system. The cancer suffers, but so does the rest of your body. This is different. This is a PRECISION weapon. A living, self-regulating machine that targets only the tumor's environment and ignores healthy tissue. The team is now heading into preclinical trials and testing it on real tumors. We are watching history happen.

This is outrageous! By giving his government the power to appoint ALL regional chairs across Ontario, @fordnation is effectively seizing control of regional governments. School boards. Killing FOIs. And now, regional councils. Ford is dismantling our democracy.

Opposition parties at Queen's Park say the government is installing 'puppets', 'bobbleheads' to lead regional governments, cutting back local decision-making. Full story here ctvnews.ca/toronto/articl…

😂😂😂 Absolute humiliation for Trump. A national security expert points out Trump is desperately trying to negotiate the exact same Iran nuclear deal he ripped up in 2018. The US literally went to war just to get back to the agreement they already had. Total incompetence.
