Despite affecting an estimated 100,000 people in the UK, a diagnosis of Lewy body dementia is often missed due to poor understanding and lack of awareness in healthcare professionals. People with LBD face delays in diagnosis, don't receive the care they need, and their families don't get support. The knock-on effect is increased costs for the NHS. Research is woefully underfunded compared to other dementias, hampering the development of effective treatments and potential cures. We are calling on the UK Government to address these critical issues by improving professional training, increasing access to care, supporting families, and substantially investing in robust LBD research.
