@jamiegoode @mattwallswine There is even an expression, souri du mise, to describe the phenomenon of early mouse. I have heard if it is not mousy in tank, it will most likely clear up in bottle

@mattwallswine If you already have some then hold onto it and retry in 6 mo/yr - some mousiness does seem to come and go but I think bad mouse can stay. No one knows for sure

Any experts on mousiness out there…? One of my favourite wines, usually reliable - drank last night and was mousy 😩 Usually it can age for decades… worth keeping? Or beyond saving?

@legrappin @artisanswiss That was somewhat different - not altogether different, but different enough for it to be false equivalence

@jamiegoode @artisanswiss Bairstow shouldn't have been out of his crease, Carey threw it in one motion, at no point was the ball dead. Michael Vaughan and Eoin Morgan agree it was a fair dismissal.

@jamiegoode @artisanswiss was broadplaying in the spirit of the game when he didn't walk in 2013. “Those things aren’t remembered,” Broad said at the time. “It’s winning a series that will be remembered. We do have a win-at-all-costs mentality."

@artisanswiss To comment intelligently on this you have to have played cricket. The rules leave some very grey areas

@jamiegoode @devicesadesires the laws are the laws. the mcc did write them after all.. cricket is the only game where a so called spirit of the game has a higher plane over the written laws. feels a bit like when gentleman had a mister on the scorecard while the plebs were sniffed at as professionals.

@devicesadesires But there was no sharp practice on behalf of England for that ‘catch’

Quite something to see on television the MCC members booing the Australian team as they return through the long room to their dressing room at the luncheon interval…Bairstow WAS out but slightly sharp practice…and was a legitimate Oz catch ruled out yesterday ?

@SouthLondonGirl It could be worse. You could have missed a 5.50am flight to Oslo on your birthday and instead spent the morning getting a train back from Stanstead.

@CrowMo99 I'd argue their use makes communication less clear, plus it's lazy and pretty easy to avoid.

@legrappin Are you going to police the entire French vocabulary too? Enough problems with communication in wine to be looking for issues

Today I have been mostly cooking this beautiful roast leg of lamb served with a 2019 @legrappin Savigny-lès-Beaune which is just so pure and delicious. *Gregg Wallace voice* “Sundays don’t get much better than this*…

It may be pretentious, but living in an oak barrel is the only way to ensure that everything you taste has a smooth, velvety finish. bit.ly/3zo0tCv
