Craig Berube made literally every single player that he coached with the Leafs worse than they were before he got there.

Jake Gardiner, Mitch Marner and Frederik Andersen were the three worst playoff performers in the modern history of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Absolutely horrendous when it counted.

You are correct of course, but if you consider the Panthers and Oilers had many coaches when out of the playoffs before they became the teams they are today. They started making the playoffs with Maurice and Woodcroft. This is the fair comparison. The Leafs have been in contention 10 or 11 years. It seems like a big miss in accountability to me.

If the Leafs hope to be far better next season, moving on from Berube felt like a necessity. Let's say Toronto hypothetically brought in Cassidy, it's probably a 10-12 points bump in the standings. There won't be another move they can make this offseason that's more impactful.
