If you want all technology banned from schools, this post from @MrZachG is worth a read. bit.ly/3QIaHKO You want a sample of Zach's provocativeness? "A book does not love the child reading it.... By every standard the abstinence movement applies to a screen, a book should also be banned. But of course nobody wants to ban books because we all understand that a book can reveal the wonders of the universe."

To help us have better conversations about education, @rodjnaquin wants us to name our framework first. He has wise advice -- and some thoughts from Aristotle -- here: bit.ly/4mrB5Ef

"Yong Zhao’s argument is not that research is misguided or that we should abandon what large-scale studies have taught us. It’s more unsettling than that. He asks us to notice how easily conclusions about groups slip into prescriptions for individuals—and how rarely we pause to consider the consequences. The book is a sustained critique of one-size-fits-all thinking, even when it arrives under the banner of 'evidence-based practice.' " Intrigued? Our reviewer has more here: ow.ly/EM8F50YGxa1

Which is better: "Turn and Talk" or "Mini Whiteboards"? @DavidDidau improves the question: "The issue is what kind of learning problem a strategy is trying to solve, and what kinds of trade-offs it involves." His thoughts here: bit.ly/4cgWDyU

@learningandtheb To clarify: this experiment did not pit AI tutor against human tutor, but it compared 2 types of AI tutors. The one that calibrated the difficulty of the practice problem to the student had much better results.

In the good-news/bad-news tug of war about #AI in education, @jillbarshay describes an chatbot tutor that does better than humans in teaching Python. bit.ly/4cG3MtR Just one piece in a million-piece puzzle (but an interesting one).
