On October 18, 2024, students from Westview Freedom Academy embarked on a field trip aboard Windsor Premier Cruises, exploring the rich history of Windsor and Detroit from the unique vantage point of the Detroit River. The Opportunities for Learning and Success (OLS) program organized the excursion and invited some of the History, Civics and Careers, and Geography classes from the school to participate with them. This immersive experience allowed students to witness firsthand the historical significance of key Windsor landmarks, including Hiram Walker’s Distillery, the Ambassador Bridge, Dieppe Gardens, and the new Gordie Howe Bridge, among many other important sites. Expert guides provided fascinating insights into the relationship between Windsor and Detroit, touching on themes such as trade, culture, and development over the centuries.
