Manufacturing inconsistencies in the 70s led to quite a bit of variation in the rendering of the Sabres original crest on their jerseys. There were slight differences year to year. Most notably was the change when the Sabres switched jersey manufacturers for the 1977-1978 season when there was a very noticeable difference in the official logo and what the players wore. in 1983-1984, the Sabres went back to a crest on their jersey that was more accurate to their official logo. Today the Sabres wear an updated version of the original logo with more texture and a few of the details removed from the original design.
