🚨🚨 I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. @BudoffMd Is the senior & a corresponding author on this paper, yet he’s claiming here in his interview with @NutritionMadeS3 that he hasn’t seen or approved ANY version of the KETO CTA study… 🤦🏽♂️ One small problem. He’s literally written about the paper on X when it first came out!!❗️❗️Everyone in academia knows that the senior & corresponding authors receive ALL communication regarding the manuscript and by definition HAVE to sign off on it at multiple time points before anything is published. Not to mention the full on PR campaign that followed via multiple news outlets and large podcasts where @nicknorwitz misrepresented the findings (of course) and spoke with prominent figures about it. I don’t understand whether he thinks other academics, professionals and doctors are this stupid? 🤦🏽♂️ Budoff also claims that @AdrianSotoMota should NOT have released the NCPV = 18.8mm3 figure nor does he have the data to do so. Just own up, admit fault that this is just one big shit show and maybe, just maybe you won’t look like a bunch of dishonest, lying, trying-to-save face charlatan researchers looking to confirm your low-carb bias?

Anyone who heard @BudoffMd speak with @bschermd in his defense of the KETO-CTA study will be extremely surprised to hear what he says here to @NutritionMadeS3. Dr. Budoff now claims: 😳 As the lead author, the published paper made available was a "pre-print" that he had never read, edited, or approved. This same "pre-print" paper that he is now editing today (which he apparently had not read) was the paper he was defending with Dr. Scher. I am all for critiquing a paper and the findings & not critique the scientists "character" but there can be concerns that come up of the latter that should not be ignored. Dr. Budoff has asked people to not make attacks about his personal character which I think is reasonable; however, if one listens to Dr. Scher and then to this interview w/ Dr. Carvalho one is left wondering about issues of character, honesty, and integrity. 😳 Dr. Budoff has no idea where @AdrianSotoMota came up with the primary endpoint data of NCPV progression of 18.8 mm3. Dr. Budoff says nobody knows that data because "his" statistician has not released that information and that Dr. Sota Mota does not have "permission" to share that information? This is an extreme level of dysfunction. 😳 Looking at Figures that describe the change in plaque progression (i.e. describe qualitatively the primary outcome) the paper says: "Most participants presented with stable NCPV (Figures 1A and 1B), with 1 participant exhibiting a decrease in NCPV (Figures 2A to 2C)". Dr. Budoff says he has no idea what this sentence means! 😳 Dr. Budoff said with Dr. Scher that he does not think all the "non-scientists and non-clinicians" should be criticizing the KETO-CTA paper. Now, you hear Dr. Budoff essentially agreeing that all the criticisms have been credible. Perhaps Dr. Budoff owes the "ignorant masses" an apology for standing up for scientific integrity. I am only hitting on a few of the points here! It keeps going. Keto Cholesterol study SHOCKS scientific community | LMHRs & heart disease youtu.be/ZDr4iFqENgc?si… via @YouTube
