Dear UEFA Club Financial Control Body,
I am writing in the interest of safeguarding the integrity, financial transparency, and fairness of European football.
In recent months, a number of allegations and concerns relating to Galatasaray AŞ have been widely reported and discussed in the Turkish media and public domain. These have included, among other matters:
* alleged ticket black-market activities;
* questions concerning certain financial transactions and flows of funds;
* concerns regarding the transparency of certain sponsorship and commercial agreements; and
* public criticism relating to financial reporting and corporate governance practices.
In addition, several current or former individuals associated with the club’s management have, at different times, been the subject of publicly reported allegations, investigations, or judicial proceedings. I make no assertion regarding the accuracy or validity of any such reports and fully respect the presumption of innocence and the due process rights of all individuals concerned.
Nevertheless, given UEFA’s responsibilities in relation to financial sustainability, club licensing, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of its competitions, I respectfully believe that matters of this nature may warrant consideration within UEFA’s established regulatory framework.
Accordingly, I respectfully request that UEFA consider whether a review or assessment may be appropriate under its Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Regulations, including, where relevant, matters concerning:
* the club’s financial reporting and records;
* its sources of revenue;
* sponsorship and commercial agreements;
* player contracts and transfer transactions;
* commercial relationships with third parties; and
* any other matters falling within UEFA’s regulatory competence.
My intention is not to accuse Galatasaray AŞ or any individual of wrongdoing. Rather, I respectfully request that the same standards of transparency, accountability, and regulatory oversight be applied equally to all clubs participating in UEFA competitions.
If the publicly reported allegations are unfounded, an independent assessment could help clarify the matter and reinforce confidence in the club’s compliance. Conversely, if UEFA identifies any issues falling within its jurisdiction, I trust that it will take whatever action it considers appropriate in accordance with its regulations.
